Find Ancestors

Looks like Hugh Alexander Meyer died in 2001 ref 20113 it gave his dob as 2/6/1917, but I can't see a death for Emily though.

Of course,she could still be living.

It would be good to find her or their children (if they had any) but this is my first adventure into NZ and with the birth/marriage records being closed for so long it's difficult to find anything. There's no Emily Meyer showing up in the phone book anywhere in NZ.

I really surprised (and pleased) we got this far - with a name like Smith I really though it would be an impossible task for what was a quiet day - but I hadn't taken into account the incredible skills of all you helpers!

Oddly,
When I started in family history, I started with my husband's tree ( mine is almost entirely Irish)
His mum is a Smith, and her line hails from Aberdeenshire/Banffshire.
These Smiths were by far the easiest family to research, simply because they didn't move about very much.
Even those who emigrated to Australia were easily identifiable because of the naming pattern that they retained.
PS my mum in law ( Smith) was born in 1923. She is still pretty active and "completely independant", so theoretically Emily could still be out there somewhere.

NZ electoral rolls go up to 1981.
Did a quick scan and both Emily and Hugh Alexander Myers can be found up until then
Will revisit the rolls later this evening. If any children materialize, I will PM the results.
I worry about venturing into the land of the living, and if they had children, they would no doubt fall into this category.
I would not provide details on a public forum.

Hi Flip,
Checked all electoral roll entries from through to 1981.
Hugh Alexander and Emily remained at Penrose Road and can be found there in in both 1969 and 1972
At 1978 and1981 they had moved to 74B Highland Park Ave, Pakuranga, Auckland.
No other person called Meyer is found in their household in any electoral year.

Looks highly likely they didn't have children if none have showed up on the ERs. Even if they did we don't have names so end of the road I think!
