I think George Stone may have re-married after the death of Mary Ann Stone in 1892. Married a Jennie (but got no details) and on the 1901 census (listed earlier on this thread) Leslie (Douglas Leslie) is listed as nephew at 9 months with George and Jennie. |

Gillian do you have Douglas Leslie's marriage cert and if so is his father's name and occupation on it? |

I do have his marriage certificate, he's listed himself as Leslie Douglas Stone, but it has the name of his adoptive father - Joshua Leopold Stone - on it, with an occupation of Fitter (21st April 1924 - No. 217). |

The handwritten notes on the marriage certificate of Douglas Leslie and Hannah Elizbeth are apparently the notes that appear in the original entry (according to the certificate wording). |

Gins I found them, ( Jenny and George that is ) and oddly enough they have a son of the same name...BUT they appear on a census think it was the 1901 , at the same time :-D |

Im assuming that because Leslie (Douglas Leslie) was listed as the adopted son of Joshua Leopold and Ada Stone on the 1911 Census, that Joshua and George (from the 1901 Census) were somehow related?? |

Rambling | Report | 26 Apr 2012 20:55 |
Joshua is George's son... if Albert G Stone IS the natural father of Douglas then Joshua is his uncle... the more I look at it the more I think that Alice was not married but let Douglas' father's family adopt? |

Yes that is a high possibilty, but on Douglas Leslie's birth certificate though, his father is listed as Albert George Davies - no Stone mentioned - would/could that be an oversight? |

You just need to be patient for a little while longer - there are several of us working on this. |
