SO - It looks like Henry was the illigitimate son of Henry + Elizabeth's daughter Elizabeth ???

He was recorded as their grandson on 1851 but had become their son by 1861 ?

sounds about right

it would not be the first time a grandson has been recorded as son especially if the others of a similar age were really sons or daughters

it probably solves why the other births were recorded but not his and why he is of a very similar age to Jane

Hope we have got it right for you Alan. If you want any look-ups for Lancs that are not on-line let me know as I go to the Lancs record office fairly regularly.
