Don't know how long the journey would have taken but I looked at records on FMP for the same journey in 1890 and at that time it took around 65 days.

So she's from an army family too. Thinking now they ve met at a station at
ipswitch, got married there had off they've gone to the cape where he was posted with the 13th

All fits in a conjecture sort of way...he leaves India unmarried in 1858 and comes back to England....meets and married Sarah who is over here with her military father.....shoots off again and starts family in SA....
