Although the 1940 US census has been released none of the sites who will ultimately have it available online have transcribed the records yet so there will be a bit of a delay before people will effectively be able to search it.

I wonder if I might ask for some help with a Garland May again born 7th Feb1920. He was a soldier from the USA. He did marry my aunt in this country in 1944. However he was previoulsy married to a lady in the USA. She apparently died in childbirth. The places that I have for him isn Polk, Georgia, Cornelia Georgia, Habersham Georgia or Chatanooga.
I guess he would have been married to his first wife between 1938 and 1942 possibly. It says on his war record 'date of entry on current active service 14th December 1942. I understand that the census is out and would include the year 1938 onwards is anyone able to help me at all.

Sorry it take so long for me to get back to you but thanks for your help, looks like i will have to do as you advised and wait until next April untill I can complete this search. Unless anyone has any other ideas of finding the second marriage for Garland.

Hi all does anyone have idea what the legal age was to around 1938. I was just thinking that Garland would have been 18 in 1938 and he married my aunt in the uk dec 1944 and died march 1945. so its about a six year time frame between being 18 and marrying my aunt that he would have married his first wife .
