Hi Wendy

Thank you so much. I didn't expect such a rapid reply.

Was in Lichfield R O 3 weeks ago checking out some other ancestors, and came across a 1912 record for William & his wife Maria

.Unless you were already looking for something else in this particular ledger, this record would be easily missed. They were married over 40 years, no children, so no "direct" descendants . I didn't expect to find that William had a younger brother though.

I can't quite peg down one of our William with a grandfather named Peter.
Am wondering if Dorothy is the one shown living Ashby de la Zouch in 1841 in the household of Thomas Orme, who looks old enough to be Dorothy's grandfather, ? Peter's father.

There is also an older Dorothy ( who may be grandma) that younger Dorothy name after.

And the biggest surprise, Dorothy's 2nd child Joseph, who also reached adulthood and married.

I need to do more research, our Orme did tend to cross the county borders between Staffs/Notts/Dys. Thanks for the offer, will take you up on it if necessary.

hi Kath,

Yes it was at St Leodegarius Church Basford on 4 Nov 1832 I'll have a look at the witnesses next time I'm in the archives.

How are you getting on with your Ormes?

Kathleen Report 8 Jul 2014 13:13

Hi Wendy

Thanks, witnesses would be good, and if fathers are named that will be brilliant..

I'm helping someone overseas with this one, but I have Robinson from Notts in my line as well, so will be interested to see where it goes.

Still sorting out the Orme,

Kath

Hi Wendy,

I would appreciate it if you could check the parish record for the baptism of Jane Chappel(l) at the archives.

The NFHS disc shows 4 Jun 1846 at St Lawrence, Norwell but I am hoping this may be a typo and should be 1836.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Have checked parish records for the christening of Jane Chappell and it was 4 June 1846 daughter of Thomas & Rebecca. I also checked from 1830 to 1846 in case there was another Jane but there wasn't one.
Did find some more children of Thomas & Rebecca but you most likely already have them but in case you don't they are:

Esther and Ann both 17 Feb 1838
William 23 April 1839
Esther 29 March 1841
Mary 27 Aug 1843.

Hi Wendy

I had seen that Baptism with parents names, and also a marriage in the Norwich area in 1809 which may be the parents.

I was hoping there might be a little nugget of info that confirms this is my man , and his Mum & Dad did marry in Norwich. There are just too many Wilson

Pleased to hear the baby arrived safely

Thank you

Kath
