Could you look for these marriages please?
Name: Frances Annie Taylor Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1881 Registration District: Nottingham Inferred County: Nottinghamshire Volume Number: 7b Page Number: 408 Records on Page: Name Fred Jamison George Frankton Frances Annie Taylor Lucy Thompson
Name: Frances Annie Taylor Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1884 Registration District: Nottingham Inferred County: Nottinghamshire Volume Number: 7b Page Number: 347 Records on Page: Name Julia German William Simpson William Smith Frances Annie Taylor
I'm hoping one names her father as Joel Taylor, who in 1881 was a Brewery Agent, and unless I've got muddled, a Carpenter in 1891.
Frances Ann was born registered in 4Q 1860
Thank you

Hi +++DetEcTive+++
Had a look on my Cd's
1. Frances Annie Taylor & Fred Jamison married at St Ann's Church 20 Oct 1881. 2. Frances Annie Taylor & William Simpson married at St Nicholas Church 28 Aug 1884. I'll look those up for you when I'm next in the archives to see which one is the daughter of Joel, will not be until Wednesday as I'm babysitting tomorrow.
Also found a christening for Frances Anne Taylor daughter of Joel Taylor a joiner of Parliament Street, and his wife Elizabeth Ann at St Paul's Church on 6 Oct 1860.

The baptism address matches with the 1861 census, so thank you for that!
There's no rush. After all they aren't going anywhere. ;-) Enjoy your baby sitting duties, and thank you.

Hi +++DetEcTive+++,
While waiting for Debbie to come round had a quick look at the 19th Century British Newspapers and found in the marriage announcements in Nottingham Guardian dated friday October 28th, 1881
On the 20th Oct at St Ann's Church, Nottingham by the Rev George ?dgcome, rector of St Peter's, Fred the youngest son of Abraham Jamison to Annie Frances younger daughter of Joel Taylor, of Mayfield Grove.
Of course I'll still check the actual Church record, would you like me to get you a copy?
Also found on my disc 2 more christening of Joel's children: 1. 18 Dec 1853 John Bennett born 27 Nov 1853 St Paul's Church abode Sneinton. 2. 6 June 1858 Mary at St Paul's church abode Parliament Street.
All the best

Thank you so much for the info - although it is always lovely to have supporting documentation, Francis is a rather distance cousin, and I wouldn't want to put you to any expense. Would they allow you to take a photo instead?
If you could just check the images to make sure that the 1884 doesn't also name her father as Joel? The witnesses, if they are legible, would be good to know.
Because this family are so 'ordinary' I never think to check the BNA ;-)

Wendy my Angel!! x.......I would be eternally in your debt if you could perform one of your seemingly impossible miracles.............that's what you call a grovel!!
I am stymied by a Nottingham marriage between JOHN BANNER b 1804 Greasley..or nearby...and a CHARLOTTE............born about 1815 allegedly in Arnold..the only one I can find is Charlotte Shipman,but it ain't her.
They were living in Wollaton in 1861 when John upped and hanged himself. They had five children between 1840 and 1854..........but the marriage seems to have been before 1837. cos I can't find it anywhere on Civil Reg BMD,s..but you'll find the family on the 1861 Census....
Many thanks again.
Derek.

Hi everyone, Sorry to have taken so long to get beck to you but not been on line for a few days.
Right Derek, why don't you think the Charlotte Shipman you found is the right one, here what's on my disc,
John Banner and Charlotte Shippam (could be Shipman) married 28 March 1839 at St Leonard's Church Wollaton. I'll of course have a look at the marriage next time I'm in the archives next week. It's the only marriage I can find.
Christenings of children at St Leonard's: 4 Aug 1839 Mary 27 Feb 1842 Thomas 15 March 1846 Sarah Ann 11 May 1851 James 4 June 1854 Christana 26 Sept 1858 Charles, John is down as a Gardner on all of them.
Charlotte Shipman christened 11 July 1813 daughter of Samuel & Temperance at St Mary's Arnold. Samuel was a Butcher.
Burial of Charlotte at St Leonard's 17 Nov 1865 aged 52yrs, (ties in with the christening in Arnold.)
John Banner was buried 9 July 1861 St Leonard's aged 57yrs.
As I said I'll check the marriage to see if John is a Gardner on that and Charlotte's father was Samuel and a butcher.

Hi Derek,
Marriage Details: Wollaton St Leonard's Chruch 28 March 1839:
John Banner, full age, a Gardner of Wollaton, father James Banner a Labourer. Charlotte Shippam, full age, a Servant of Wollaton, father Samuel Shippam a Butcher. Both John & Charlotte signed. Witness's were William Banner & Sarah Banner.
So the Charlotte Shipman in Arnold is the right one but its down as Shippam on the marriage.
All the best
