Hi Ach,

As its 1924 you are looking for I would need to know where about's in the Mansfield district he was living. It most likely he would be buried in one of Mansfield Cemeteries and the records are not at the archives, you will need to get in touch with them their address is below, I do not know if they will charge a fee.

Hi Wendy,

Could you please see if you can find a baptism for a Lucy/Lucinder Jackson born c1848 at Edwinstowe, Nottingham. Her parents were George and Harriet.

Also would you be able to confirm her mums baptism, Harriet Wells. A submitted entry on the IGI has her baptism as 31/8/1823 at Edwinstowe, parents being John Fells and Lucy Wordsworth.

Would you also be able to check the marriage for Harriet Wells and George Jackson which took place in the Southwell reg district in Dec q 1846, hopefully this would confirm the baptism I've found for George is correct and his fathers name was John.

First off my christenings disc only go's upto 1840 for Edwinstowe so will look for Lucy Jackson at the archives.
my marriage disc has the Harriet Fells and George Jackson 26 Oct 1847 (this must be wrong as GRO says 1846) at Wellow.

Wow thank you that was quick. Thank you very much for the extra info you found for me regarding John and Lucy's children. When you are at the archives, would you mind looking at John and Lucys marriage record, not sure if it was too early for fathers names to be recorded but if it is, would be interested to know who the witnesses were.

Hi Chris,

I've had a look at the marriage of Harriet Fells and George Jackson at Willow, it seems there was a mix up with the date as on their marriage it doesn't say the year but as you know there are always 2 marriages to a page in the parish books and the one above Harriet's marriage is dated 14 Jan 1847 then Harriet's and George's is dated 26 Oct (no year) and then the next marriage after is dated 2 March 1847. I was that busy looking at the dates and forgot to put down all the details Harriet's father is down as John and witness were James Lucas and Ann Heans?? (it was hard to read.
Christening's of Lucinda 9 July 1848 and Mary Elizabeth 8 Sept 1850 daughters of George & Harriet Jackson at Edwinstowe.
Marriage of John Fells and Lucy Wordsworth wittness were Leisy (again hard to read) Wordsworth and William Simpson.

Hi Lorraine,

Burial records for All Hollows only go up to 1901 at the archives and there is no way of knowing who else is in the grave, maybe if you got in touch with the church they may be able to tell you.
However in one of the Monumental inscriptions books at the archives I found the following:
Shrewsbury, Arthur born 11 April 1856 died 19 may 1903 for 28 years a member of the Notts County Cricket XI.

a lady im trying to help is trying to find where her great grandmother is buried her uncle seems to think she is buried in notts general cem she died dec 1938 but can not find her on the disc, so she has had a word with her uncle and he now thinks she may have been buried (as ahe was poor) in with someone else. would you know if she would be able to find out if this information is right

Hi Sharon,

the disc you have only tells you if the's with a grave stone, I can check the actual burial records at the archives so give me the name you are looking for and I'll check them next time I'm at the archives.
