Find Ancestors

I am trying to find the parents and siblings of a Sarah A Percival born in Redruth Cornwall in about 1855 she later moved to Darwen Lancashire to work in service and married a man called John Crawford in Blackburn in 1882 and they went on to have 6 children.
That bit seems quite simple but if you follow the the 1891 census she is Sarah - in 1901 she becomes Victoria-in the 1911 she becomes Elizabeth always born in Redruth cornwall.
Am I looking for the same person here who keeps changing her name or are they 3 different people . I can only find 1 marriage and that is for a James Crawford to a Sarah Anne Percival in 1882 in the Blackburn area which is the right area

I know our ancestors were a bit flexible with their names, but it seems a bit strange to be so random! Is she with the same people on each census - same John with same occupation, same children?

Strange as this may seem she is still with the same husband same children in fact it is also very odd that on Beartices birth cert she is named as Elizabeth Goodman also born in Redruth Cornwall but I can't find any record of her with this name

I don't think that is the family you want in 1891 & 1891. the Sarah in that census had the maiden name of Goodman

Are you working from forwards or backwards from a child's name?

I can't find a Sarah Percival born c1855 in 1881

As above, have you got the marriage cert for sarah and james? Like LancashireAnn i can't see a birth for her.

I am researching back from Beatrice C rawford born 2 January 1891 her father was John Crawford born in Liverpool about 1855 on her birth cert her mother is recorded as Elizabeth Goodman who I am given to understand came from Redrurh in Cornwall but I cannot find any record of her birth----- or of her marriage to John Crawford
The reason I think that Sarah A was married to John Crawford is on the 1891 census she is listed as his wife with all the children I know for a fact are Beatrice brother and sisters living at the address that I have for the family that at time

I think Brummiejan and Rootgatherer are spot on with that 1914 death - explains the Victoria 1901 and Elizabeth 1911 conundrum.

Perhaps they never actually married?
