Rhoda`s father David Edwin Hobbs born 1853 in Clanfield,Oxfordshire married his second wife Harriet ,and according to the 1911 census they had been married for 25yrs, therefore 1911-25=1886.I can find no marriage record, also states that there were 4 children born to the marriage and 3 still alive in 1911, however all four are listed on the census, and I can find no death record for any of them.
There are two other children from a previous marriage between David Edwin Hobbs and Lucy Kinshott.....Rhoda and William. Can anyone help? I seem to be going round in circles, and I haven`t even started on my other grandparents yet!!!

Hi Karen,

on the 1911 census I posted previously, there are 4 children in the family; William, Ada, Bessie and Joseph.

William is 27 years old, I should imagine he is David's son from the first marriage. Therefore the 3 surviving children from the 2nd marriage to Harriet are Ada, Bessie and Joseph.

Thank you, Margaret. Tracing family is addictive! I have been led to believe that Rhoda was cut off from her family, because she married a gardener, obviously it would be fascinating to find out if that were true.Harriet was her step mother, don`t know if they got on, was that the real reason?
