Well thats a surprise as William Henry Sampson is brother to Thomas Sampson who married Bridget Reardon daughter to Bridget Campbell (THomas and Bridget being my great grandparents) - we had always been told that this family was very interweaved but I dont think I realised quite how much! |

Actually I am working off the top of my head here, it might have been Margaret Mulholland (half sister to Lucy Ann Mulholland) that married Wm Sampson's brother, and they had Thomas Sampson who married Bridget reardon, I need to go back to the handwritten tree to be sure! |

Just one thing about Thom M and MAry Anne McGrave, her name is written as McCrave not McGrave, not sure if this would make a huge difference. |

Sorry going back to the first bit of that I of course meant to say I can't confirm anything unless I can find Irish records for the Reardon family! (possibly 1 too many glasses of wine with our family New year meal!). |

Victoria...My mistake I meant Brid Reardon (1871) could n't have married Wm Fennell1876 as she was only 6 mths... |

Going back to the 1861 census which was found earlier with Nathaniel and Mary Campbell on it, I have checked back at the actual census image and they are living in Vernon Street. Googling Pownall Square, places it the next road along, which leads me to think this is could be the same family as Mary Campbell apparently settled in Pownall Sq area. |

ARGGGHH! This gets more complicated by the minute, so possible she was a cousin and James Reardon born 1836 in Ireland, had a brother called Timothy! Oh if only I could access some Irish records! |

Actually the cogs are turning here, when I was researching the Reardon's and found all the butcher shops etc, I also found a Frederick Reardon, butcher at the same addresses, maybe I should look a little further into this line as was not sure where frederick fitted and decided to put him on the backburner for now, but maybe he is Bridget's brother? |

Victoria...The Irish records wont be of much value at this stage as both James and Brid were born pre Civil Registration therefore you would be needing the Parish Records for everything... |

Previously I said I thought Bridget Reardon born 1855ish, Liverpool was the daughter of Timothy and Honora Reardon, but he was a dock labourer, and in 1871 I have just found the following with father's trade being a ..... you've guess it a butcher. |

It appears the Reardon's, Sampson's and Mulhollands all were part of the Butcher's trade in St John;s Market. The Sampson's went on to open a restuarant called Sampson and Barlow in Liverpool which in the 60's was home to a lounge above it where The Beetles played and practiced. My mum remembers visiting it as a child and all the meats laid out in the window. |
