This is what I know from the handwritten family history and family tree.
Mrs Campbell (I am not sure how I know it is Mary) was in Dundalk in 1847, apparently a widow, and left for Liverpool with 4 daughters and 1 son and took a house in Pownall Square. Children were (I have no dates of birth):
Bridget Campbell who married James Reardon - I believe the link to the other thread above is the marriage details. Bridget and James Reardon had John, James, Mary Anne, Cissie, Cornelius, and Mary Francis. John from this generation married Alice Kearns, they had 9 children, the eldest Bridget being my great grandmother.
Lucy Campbell married Thomas Mulholland and was his second wife. Thomas Mulholland married Mary Anne McCrave in Dundalk around 1852, his first wife. They had 2 children Margaret and John, and she died in childbirth with John. The 2 children were sent to live with relatives in Ireland and he found a second wife - Lucy Campbell in Liverpool. With Lucy he had 2 children, Lucy and Elizabeth. Wife Lucy died not long after Elizabeth was born, Elizabeth died around the age of 5 or 6. Once Lucy died, Thomas Mulholland remarried a third time to Julia Long and had a further 4 children.
Catherine? Campbell not sure if this name is correct, married a Mr Fennell and had a son William Fennell. He then married unknown and had 2 sons William (killed in 1944) and Richard (who married a Reardon offspring (Maureen) in the 1947), Clare Fennell who married Gerald Sampson (also derived from the Reardon line) and Peggy Fennell.
Mary? Campbell - again unsure this name is correct married a Mr Cunningham I found a possible marriage in 1863 in Liverpool.
Nicholas Campbell married unknown and settled in Holyhead. He had a daughter Ellen who married a Mr Bogue, and they had a daughter Minnie who married a Denis Healy, and had a daughter Eileen.
I was hoping I could trace the Campbell's, confirm the other 2 daughter's names, and the son's. and also their parent's i.e. possibly Mary and Nathaniel Campbell, but I am unsure how to search irish records or if they even exist.

I think I have found part of the family in 1901. There is an Ellen Campbell in Holyhead, with a daughter at home and a nephew with the surname Bogue, which ties in. I think this Ellen was married to a Joseph Campbell looking at previous census records so my family history is wrong & the son was probably Joseph not Nicholas.

Thank you so much Flick, I can now see the merits of working backwards. Maybe if I can trace the sisters I might strike lucky and find one of them has the mother living with them, although I guess this will prove more difficult as both Catherine and Mary have question marks against their names which I assume means the author of my family history is unsure of their names, and only the surnames of the husbands.I guess at least I know the offspring of the Fennell line which is another starting point.
I appreciate all the advice I have been given, and I have learnt the benefits of starting with the present and going backwards instead of trying to go the other way.
Happy New Year to you as well

Again I think I have found one of the Fennell offspring but need to ask for some help again please.
Richard William G Fennell Year of Registration: 1910 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Birkenhead (1861-1998) County: Cheshire, Merseyside Volume: 8a Page: 586 (click to see others on page)
On previous threads people have provided more information than this which I assume are baptism records or something, would it be possible for someone to look this up for me so I can confirm his parents or at least father. I have also found his marriage and I know of definate he married Maureen Reardon, so I know this is the correct marriage reference but again is anyone abloe to access anything more on line which might give more details or do I need to send of the marriage certifiate?
Richard G Fennell Spouse Surname: Reardon Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1947 Registration district: Liverpool Registration county (inferred): Lancashire Volume Number: 10d Page Number: 1313
Many thanks

Erinobragh1916, I have just signed up to the 1911 census and checked the above. Thanks for the tip. His parents are listed as William Fennell and Honora Fennell. On ancestry I have just found their marriage in 1909 William Fennell to Honora Arid which is great. I now need to try and trace the father William backwards!
Thanks

Is it possible to acces Irish records? as far as I know he married her in Dundalk, and it was there she died in childbirth to the son. I am currently trying to find the Campbell's crossing to Liverpool to see if that might shed some light, at least we would then know when they settled here.

Victoria...Why dont you check out Nathaniel (Dean St.) that Flick posted yeaterday....There are plenty of Irish sites to check but they can be costly at this stage when you need to be sure of the family and their connection.... I have checked the family search (IGI) site for Thomas' first marriage and cannot find it in Ireland....were the children born in L'Pool...where did his first wife die..? I also cannot find any marriage to a Julia Long in UK.....a check of 1871 census may show where "Lucy Ann" Mulholland is living and with whom.... Dont go dipping your toes in the Irish sea just yet...you may pay dearly for the experience...!!

Going back though all my information I know now where I got the name Mary Campbell from, she is on the 1871 census as a widower living with her eldest daughter Bridget and husband James Reardon in Liverpool.

Thanks for the advivce, I have been rying to look into Irish records and was coming to that conclusion!
I have been trying to find nathaniel's death, but no joy so far.
As for the first wife of Thomas Mulholland, I beleive they were married in ireland, and she died in Ireland (the sotry goes a young doctor administered chloroform to her during childbirth and overdosed her, then tried to revive her by hitting her with wet towels and she died due to this!! Love these folk tales. The 2 children from this first marriage were sent to live with relatives in Ireland, and possibly came over to Liverpool 12 years later, so around 1870's. I know the names of the children from this third marriage so will go and dig them out and see where I get. Many thanks yet again

BINGO!!
Thanks so muc Eringobragh1916 - sometimes you dont thik of doing the obvious yourself, I have found Thomas Mulholland with all children in 1871, absolutely brilliant! Note also the James Campbell with them listed as a visitor from Ireland, also in the meat trade/butcher, which seems to be the family business, and further confirms the connection to the Campbell family (although I have no idea who he is!!)

Morning Victoria...Aren't you doing well !!! I had noted a Thomas M (Butcher) on a later Census but didnt connect him (wife Julia) at the time... I havent been able to locate a Nathaniel death either but am sure its there to be found eventually.... Juia may well have been "born" in Ireland but I would be looking closer to home for her...unless as you say Thomas went back to Ireland maybe to visit the children and met and married her...mmm...

I missed the 1881 census as well due to the *John*, however I am 98% certain it is the right family as their youngest daughter was Maria, and all the other names match my family history. Again according to this his first daughter and son Margaret and John born to Anne McCrave were sent to live with relatives in Ireland, but it says they were happiest 12 years of Margaret's life, as she then went to join her father and new wife, which would tie in with Thomas marrying Julia Long mid to late 1860's, and they do appear with them on the 1871 census.
All this info is great, thanks. I am going to be going off line as we have a family do for New Year today so would be told off if I was attached to my laptop for it!
I have to say ijn the last 48 hours I feel I have learnt loads and also made some serious headway so thanks to everyone who has helped to contribute to this, and confirm/find things.
