Hi there,
Is someone able to please look-up the following lady for me in 1911. Here she is in 1881 and 1891; I can't find her in 1901, but none of the death between the census seem to be here, and I've enquired about several at various register offices etc.
So I am trying my luck to see if she in the 1911; she was born Mary Woods in about 1852 in Runcorn, Cheshire (or Widnes, Cheshire).

Hi Liz,
To be honest I haven't looked for marriages as it would be bigamy; but of course, on reflection that is a possibility! Her husband Michael definitley died in 1913; the name is unusal and the cert confirms this.
Perhaps I need to broaden my search!
Thank you

My great great grandmother "married" again in 1876, as did her husband, but they were still legally married to each other! Will see if I can find anything for you tomorrow - or today as it is now Regards, Liz

Hello there, and excuse the late reply; I've been away from the pc for a few days!
Gael you have found their marriage/banns and the baptism of their child Hanah (who is Anna in the 1891 census). Now, this is where is gets interesting; the marriage cert shows Michael to be the son of John Lever, but it should be James! I've certailny followed his parents as being James Lever.
I beleive John Lever may be recorded instead of James Lever on the marriage certificate, as this may be a deliberate 'mistake' as I think this marriage may be an elopement. I say this as, you will note that the banns dated 21st May 1871 state both bride and groom are residents of Cheshire. When the couple married on May 29th they give address of abdoe as being in Warrington!
I also feel I can say this with some confidence as Michael Lever is such an uncommon name (see FREE BMD). Also, his age and details from later censuses seem to confirm this. Also, the couple's son's Henry's birth cert from December 1871, confirmed his parents as Michael Lever and Mary Woods.
Liz; Michael died in the Workhouse at Dutton, near Runcorn Cheshire. I can't find him either!
Thank you for this help! Any opinions also on my theory are appreciated, even if I have been following a wrong family!

Hi Gael,
William in 1879 must be a relation, but he doesn't appear with the family in the census so I assume he died young ... I also assume this is his death, as Prescot District covers Widnes where the family were in 1881:
Deaths Mar 1881 (>99%) LEVER William 1 Prescot 8b 495 Scan available - click to view
Liz, yes you have the correct death for Michael Lever in 1913; his age is a little out but his son registered the death and the informants address tallys with what I have!
This is quite a difficult one!

Thank you; Michael Lever died in the Dutton Workhouse near Runcorn, Cheshire, but I'll have to find the certificate to confirm the address of him.
His son Henry (born 1871 in Runcorn) registered the death and his address was Lightfoot Square in Runcorn.
Perhaps Mary had died between 1891 and 1901 and I've just not found the death, or the details were entered incorrect etc?!

Hi there,
I beleive Lightfoot Sqare ran off from Heath Road, so although I don't know who this family is, there would be related ... or at least I initally assumee! I am not suer how though!
I'll find the death certiifate and transcibe the origional details of address in a little while; I just need to find it out!
What is strange about the below 1911 census is that the surname Thompson (or varient) is mentioned with a Lever family. I am related to a family of Thompsons from Runcorn, who marry into a family the Lever's married into!
Is this now a new line of enquiry?

I would think the grandaughter, Annie, is the daughter of one of Anne's sons, but without getting the birth cert. it is not certain, have you tried a search on this site for Annie Thomson/Thompson.
