Hey there, and please accept my apologies over the late reply! I have been away for a few days ... however, wow! Thank you for this help; yes Gael you found Henry's death in 1956. Liz, thank you for the advice and support and Moody Blue, thank you for looking further into a possible death! The 1900 death in Bolton could be! I will most definitley be getting on the phone to Bolton in the next few days to see if this all correct. I would really like to solve this mystery!
Saying this, the only problem there is Michael Lever is recorded as still being married at the time of the 1901! Saying this, is age is slightly off as is his place of birth. This is excellent though and it does seem quite probable! Especially the occupation of Mary's possible brother?!
I'll keep you updated with the news from Bolton!

Marys birth year seems to differ quite a lot..........1850 when married, 1856 in 1881 and 1854 in 1891. On the marriage entry she has a father called Samuel so was wondering if this could be her ?

Thanks Liz,
No, I tried looking into the families of Henry's children, and even Henry's siblings, and Michael's siblings families, but nothing! This family seems to have been quite undersearched.
Saying this, Michael's sister-in-law, died after being found drowned in a local canal. No verdict of accidental death was given on the death certificate, only 'found drowned'. There was also NO mention whatsoever of this in the local newspaper. What does this suggest? And would this indicate something of what became of Michael's wife, my ancestor?
Thanks,
Peter

Does this help?
RE Ann Lever, who you found in the 1911 with theann Thomson (I did look on here but no one seems to have her in their tree), if her husband was born in Bolton, he is quite possibly a relation, as the Lever's were origionally from Bolton, Lancashire.

I would think the grandaughter, Annie, is the daughter of one of Anne's sons, but without getting the birth cert. it is not certain, have you tried a search on this site for Annie Thomson/Thompson.

Hi there,
I beleive Lightfoot Sqare ran off from Heath Road, so although I don't know who this family is, there would be related ... or at least I initally assumee! I am not suer how though!
I'll find the death certiifate and transcibe the origional details of address in a little while; I just need to find it out!
What is strange about the below 1911 census is that the surname Thompson (or varient) is mentioned with a Lever family. I am related to a family of Thompsons from Runcorn, who marry into a family the Lever's married into!
Is this now a new line of enquiry?

Thank you; Michael Lever died in the Dutton Workhouse near Runcorn, Cheshire, but I'll have to find the certificate to confirm the address of him.
His son Henry (born 1871 in Runcorn) registered the death and his address was Lightfoot Square in Runcorn.
Perhaps Mary had died between 1891 and 1901 and I've just not found the death, or the details were entered incorrect etc?!

Hi Gael,
William in 1879 must be a relation, but he doesn't appear with the family in the census so I assume he died young ... I also assume this is his death, as Prescot District covers Widnes where the family were in 1881:
Deaths Mar 1881 (>99%) LEVER William 1 Prescot 8b 495 Scan available - click to view
Liz, yes you have the correct death for Michael Lever in 1913; his age is a little out but his son registered the death and the informants address tallys with what I have!
This is quite a difficult one!
