Morning all,

Gale force winds here too - VERY wet and windy !!

Sylvias porridge went down 'a treat' (thank you Sylvs!)

I put a big blob of your lovely homemade Strawberry jam in it and swirled it all round - extra specially yummy !

Copied from the Net after Googling "Beetroot Chutney":

Ingredients:

4 lb (1.8 kg) beetroot
1 large onion
1 lb (450 g) raisins
1 teaspoon salt
½ lb (225 g) white sugar
1 pint (570 ml) white vinegar
6 peppercorns
6 cloves
1 tablespoon allspice
Method:

Wash the beetroot carefully without rubbing the skin and cook gently in a large pan, covering the beetroot with water, until tender.
Allow to cool, rub off the skins and dice into cubes.
Peel and chop the onion.
Put all of the ingredients into a large, heavy based pan, tying the peppercorns and cloves in muslin.
Bring to the boil very slowly and then simmer gently until cooked and thick.
Remove the muslin bag and pour into hot, clean, sterilized jars. Seal at once.
Label with contents when fully cooled.
Makes about 5 lbs (2.3 kg) of Beetroot Chutney.

Booga Booga I must get out more!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beets and raisins. Now that's a sight to make one gag this early in the morning. This chutney stuff; it's a bit of a Brit taste. From the Indian, of course.

BOOGA BOOGA. It's a scary noise.

Yeesh.

Runner bean chutney is mothers favourite so I need to get some made for her for christmas, cheap and cheerful me,but she always turns her nose up at anything I get her so thought I would give it a go.

And I like pickled beetroot it is true, but I LOVE beetroot chutney and have you seen the price of it in the shops?
Di-gusting price it is ,and too pricey when you eats it spread as thick as the slice of bread your having it on.
