I am normally pretty good at remembering things I have done before, must have had a senile moment lol.
I was going to delete that thread after my main look up thread was whooooooshed, but thought there were some people that had not acknowledged so decided to leave it where it was.
So by the time I get back on tomorrow I expect look ups for scotland and other countrys, because they do not read the heading

Welcome back LK,

It looks like you had a wonderful time, both with your family and with your family history 'finds'. It must have been really strange having lunch in the Pub where your ancestors used to live - Did you ask if you could have a 'little look' around the bed chambers etc. ??

Thanks for the cream tea and strawberries it looks delicious but I will have to save it for later this afternoon as have you seen the spread Robert has laid on for brunch ???

I will save room for my 'afternoon cream tea though !

Thanks,

Dea x

Good morning all,....

OOhhhh Cynthia,

'DROOL' indeed - Robert really is spoiling us - I have put on 5 lbs this week !

I always have to look up at least one of his items for a translation - this time it was 'Mimosa' - to me that is a tree, however, it is apparently what we call 'Bucks Fizz' - Champagne and Orange juice! - I learn something new every day !! (I'll take mine neat though - the Champagne I mean, not the Orange juice tee hee!!)

I hope it's ready early as I have to make room for my lovely cream tea later.

Dea x

P.S. - I hope you are feeling less 'cross' now jax - mind you, that pm would have made me very angry too - 'enough to make a saint swear' as the saying goes !!

Thank you Dea.

Unfortunately most of the pub burned down in 1901 but we ate in the only surviving room.

I have now eaten in 5 pubs owned by ancestors. Probably more to go.

Last night I found he even had a fleet ofprivately owned railway wagons and one of the places he operated from was Tiverton.
There is a now a miniture railway there and we visited it with grandaughter.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share a lovely moment ! - I don't want to sound morbid or self-indulgent as I KNOW there are many people out there much worse off than me but I was just cooking one of my favourite potato dishes to accompany lunch - boiled, mashed with lots of pepper and butter and cheese - topped with more cheese and tomato and popped under the grill !

I was mashing the potato and my husband walked through and said ' can you manage that or do you want me to do it'? - I thought ??? what is he on about?? - then..... 'flashback' to about 12 months or so ago when I was doing the same thing and I had to call him in to grate the cheese and mash the potato as I was just too weak to do it myself !!!

I just realised how SOOOoooo much better I am !!! - I can hardly believe how bad I was at that time (thank goodness!!)

I am a lucky person. !!

Welcome back LK - sounds like a wonderful break for you. I really envy the fact that you can go back to where your family came from.

Dea - it's great to count your blessings sometimes isn't it? Really glad you are so much better than you were - hope the improvement continues for a long, long time. What a 'smashing' OH you have.

Just sat down for about the first time today............whew. Lovely and sunny here now but it was pouring with rain earlier on. Daughter just come back from Ten Pin bowling with the kids from the Sunday School she helps at. They do this once a year as a treat for the young ones.

OH has been busy this morning and has flaked out......ah bless.

Ja...x I recognised the name you and Janey were working on last night. I had sent her a message on how to return to her thread and she had thanked me politely. When I saw your conversation, I decided to send her my alternative 'hold your hand' step-by-step message. Not been opened as yet. Remind me to check later.

I can remember posting a message and also putting a similar query on a look up thread.....didn't give a thought to the fact that people would be doubling up on stuff - it never entered my tiny mind, just trying every option I could think of.

I was amazingly naive about stuff on here so have a certain amount of sympathy for others. I sometimes look back and cringe at what I got up to but it wasn't meant in any malicious way......just lack of experience.

I remember receiving my first census posting on here....I looked at it and thought "what am I supposed to do with that???" I'd never seen one before and was totally ignorant of the wealth of experience it contained.

The good old days eh??????? lol

Still learning but still slow on the uptake at times :))

Well she knows how to return to threads Cyn as she dug up this old look up thread of mine.
The other one who deleted her thread and claims she never recieved a pm from me has now shared her tree and requested to view my one, still has not admitted to deleting her thread though.
I never had any ancestors that had pubs but maybe in a hundred years my decendants will be visiting the pub I ran as I was there during the census of 2001, its been there since the 1600s may still be there then. Its a shame I cannot seem to find it on any census but it obviously was there perhaps not a pub back then

Well, you've missed some interesting stuff Gins....

....hasn't she Dea ? ;))

Don't know if any of my rellies ever ran a pub but have a feeling they nearly lived in 'em!! My maternal gt.grandfather burned to death in a barn/outhouse........he'd been hop picking from what I can gather and think he was too under the influence to escape poor chap.

Just off to do the rounds on TTF now......done all the others.
