My electrician is wonderful.

He asks to borrow my car sometimes to go to Warrington as his heavy duty vehicle is a bit juicy and I always say yes...

Every time I want some electrics done...sorted ...:))

I do love the barter system.

He used to work on film sets etc,so is very good at finding ways to do things that look difficult.

Also good for bbq'ing salmon .... soak cedar plank thoroughly in water, place on bbq, put salmon on top, and bbq as desired. Adds a lovely flavour to the salmon.



We have a mystery

............. we pay a friend to mow our grass, he uses his company as a means to teach ex-street kids new habits. So we're doing a good turn, as well as OH having an easier life.

So, I'm sitting here at the computer this morning, one of them is mowing the grass at the far end of the garden, coming towards the house, and about 15-20' away


.......... and there is a "ping" at one of the windows.


We now have a hole in the window ................. and a little pea-sized object that fell below it, which we cannot identify. It is not a cherry stone, nor a pellet.

This room is separated from the garden by a sundeck, about 9' deep and 15' wide and 8' above ground (car port underneath), so that window is about 25-20" away from the mower, and about 12' higher than it

............ so how the h**l did this little object hit the window?


Both OH and I figure it couldn't be from the mower ........ wrong direction, wrong angle, and really too far.

The window has an eave about 12' above it, so a bird dropping an object is a possibility



any more suggestions???????

I dont know.... but the police can tell by the entry and exit holes in the glass

Ey...I may have told you this before..I was shot in the head as a kid by a pellet gun

Oh..and the pellet either bounced off or is still there! I had stitches I know that...

They couldn’t find it back in the late 70's and I haven’t had a scan since....

It does look man-made, as against a little stone

It also only broke the outer pane of glass of a double-glazed window


Not sure if there was anyone else around, that curtain was still closed

................ this room faces a back lane, and then on down the street that runs by the side of the house. F=Only a few hidey places if anyone was around.


I think we are just going to have to gulp ..... and have the window replaced.


and then puzzle and ponder for months to come!

actually, OH has just said that he thinks it did come from the lawn mower ..... he just can't figure out HOW



ah well ..... having a new window might solve the leak that we get when the wind is in a certain direction and there is heavy heavy rain .......... only happened a couple of times during the last 2 winters, but still ...............

Sylvia, I still wonder if the momentum of the workings of the lawn mover literally catapulted that little object through your window. I know this sort of thing often happens with mowers and strimmers in churchyards......chippings and stones flying all over the place at all angles. ???

I got an email this morning from someone I tried to help some months ago.

No-one could find this guy's birth in 1899

She's somehow found the guy's daughter .................... his parents weren't married at the time, marrying 2 or 3 years later


............. and his birth was not registered until 1954, by his mother, one year before she died!



I'm glad she let me know ................ but what a story!!!

Got him home again today .... he had to go for an eye test this morning. Needed new glasses ..... will have to see what he chose in about 10 days time, when teh new ones arrive! But he then decided to stay home.

Think of a stone, hitting a stone in the mowing process...it could go anywhere

Well I have just got back.

Our first patient this morning was a lady with severe alzheimer's.

It has made her very aggressive.

OH tried to do her sight test.

Very important to check as she has glaucome.

She decided she did not like this so tried to make an attack on his manhood.

Never seen him move so quick.


Apparently she recently had one of the male nurses writhing in agony on the floor.

Googled and found this on Lawn Mower Safety........

Injury from a flying object that was ejected by the lawn mower, some lawn mowers can cause small stones and debris to be 'fired' out from under the lawn mower at a speed of over 100 mph. These flying objects can cause bruising, broken bones and even blindness.
