re whooooshing

I did notice this contradiction in the emails

Jonesy received one that said, among other things:-

We will be re-educating our moderation team on what look ups are allowed on the board, so that in the future this does not occur.

I'm very sorry that we cannot reinstate this thread.

DET received one that said, among other things:-

*****As part of our terms and conditions, we do not allow look up postings on the site, this is why this thread was removed. It will not be re-instated.

Other posts are being removed with look up information.******

SOOOOOOOOOO

are lookups allowed or not allowed????????

Jonesy and DET .................. what was the name of the person who signed your respective emails?

Do we have a conflict in what is allowed / not allowed depending on who is in charge at any particular time??

Actually, I do have a little jar in the kitchen cupboard. Think it's been there for at least 8 years, since someone gave me a "goodies" basket for Christmas.

re Gins interesting condition

all I will say is ...

SylviaInCanada - the person who sent the one quoted was Alex S.

The original, standard reply was from Rachel.

Both started of with Dear D, even though I'd signed my name, and the membership details (with names!) was on the bottom of the received ones.

Isn't marmite made from things with faces ???

Or is that Bovril

Oh that's another rule broken - mentioning products

Sylvie best say you love marmite - just in case

Well my two just say The Genes Reunited Team..... Huh

ja...x

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Aug 2010 18:45

Marmite is a meat-free yeast extract product

Bovril is a beef extract one

the main ingredients of Marmite manufactured in the UK are glutamic acid-rich yeast extract, with lesser quantities of sodium chloride (table salt), vegetable extract, niacin, thiamine, spice extracts, riboflavin, folic acid, and celery extracts, although the precise composition is a trade secret

Just to say

the Australian Vegemite tastes even worse than Marmite, in my humble opinion!!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 24 Aug 2010 19:01

you can have a cup of hot Marmite also

Marmite is very salty, and so is Vegemite.

The yeast in Marmite seems to be natural yeast, salt added which causes the cells to shrivel. Then they sieve out the cell walls (husks) and use what is left.

Vegemite is made from used brewers' yeast extract, a by-product of beer manufacturing, with various vegetables and spice added. It is salty, slightly bitter, and umami or malty ........ similar to beef bouillon.

It is not as intensely flavoured as British Marmite and it is less sweet than the New Zealand version of Marmite.
