Hi Rache,just had another thought about John James Potter.
On the mariage certificate the witness was William Potter.
Have checked and there was a John William Potter born 1908 Sheffield.
Could this be his brother.Hope this may help you.

Think George is probably the one I am looking for although his birth place was registered on the 1901 as Glossop Derbyshire, and I haven't found a birth yet.

Hey thanks again Rache. Just you don't wish that literacy was not such a problem! Maybe then they may not have recorded everything so phonetically, still I guess that adds to the excitement of the chase.
I have found Alice Elizabeth Janaways marriage in 1907 could I ask you to look her up in 1911 census please.

Hi Rache,
I just asked you something impossible, Alice Elizabeths marriage in 1907 is either to John Davis or Charles Greening at Wandsworth. So the surname would be Davis or Greening in the 1911 census. Probably too difficult to sort.

The surname is a problem as it is often misspelt.I am doing a favour for my future daughter in law who is beginning to get the family history bug.She's young has limited knowledge of her family except that someone in the family was a Jeweller! perhaps in London with a shop.
Not much for me to go on.Ida is her great grandmother, and later married in Norfolk.I would love to tell her the names of Ida's parents etc to give her a start.
