The only reason why I asked whether you had got George Louis' birth certificate is that the 1901 census states that George Snr was born in Tunbridge Wells Kent not Middlesex or Essex |

I agree with Londonbelle! Doesn't this make more sense for George? |

Yes, Maureen that's what I was looking at. Think a birth certificate for George Louis is needed before going further back....just in case his parents aren't George & Emily! |

Well there's something odd going on. Is this Martha? And why is she here?? |

Just throwing these in (don't know if the first one is correct!) |

This was my grandfather George Louis he was in the Royal House Artillery. The only photograph of him was in his full dress uniform. I am pretty sure everything is correct including George Edward and Emily Sharpe. I think the info'Jax and Mary gave me could seriously be the rest of the family going back to 1806. I have to go out for the rest of today but will check more details on the cenus's tomorrow. |

So if we are going with George being born in Tonbridge 1866 and with grandparents in Tonbridge 1871 and with them a Frederick 1850 so he would have only been @ 16 when George was born!!!!!!!! |

I guess my thinking was that the T'bridge George was quite possibly the son of one of the unmarried daughters (Martha??) and just put down good old Uncle Fred as his father on the marriage cert to save face. |
