Parish record look-ups please. Particularly on the births of Ponsford children shown on 1871 census. Either Elizabeth was a very clever woman to have children after she died or he married again and he lost another wife. How careless of him!

Just out of interest I'll say I didn't know of Mary Ann Briaris' existence until I did a general search on Briaris deaths and rather a surprise to find one in Brighton! Then found following 1881 census and knew Elizabeth had married a Ponsford. Went on from there! We do have a bit of luck occasionally thank goodness.

Now I'm getting confused! Where did Henry Thomas Ponsford come from - and how come Arthur is being baptised in 1866 when his mother died 1854. Think I'll have to write it down, study it, and leave this thread until I've got my head sorted. Might take me some time, lol.

I believe there are 2 Henry's here. Henry the draper and Henry the shoemaker.
The 3 children baptised 16 Feb. 1866 belonged to Henry the shoemaker and Eliza of 4 Mill Place. They were Frank, Eliza and Arthur. The only one with a birthdate given was Arthur born 20 Feb. 1863.

Still haven't found Henry James Ponsford and his daughters on 1871 census. Neither can I find a marriage or a death for Emily. Still no luck finding death of Henry James Ponsford in an area or of an age that ties in. Will someone please look at Parish death records to see if they can come up with one?

Nice to see your name again. My sticking point is the 1871 census. Just cannot find out what happened to them between 1861 and 1881.

I'm hoping to find Emily got married and had children and also a record for the death of Henry. Think this is on previous page - only found one death and think that is for death of Henry Thomas not Henry James P.

So Henry isn't with them in 1871!!
