We think May Jones mmn Cropper b1899 in Oldham was the first child. The second child Florence b1900 in Crewe. I posted poss birth/census details on pg 26 including the possibility that May died in Crewe.

Martyn forgot to say - if you google Greenacres Cemetery there are some online records for all the Oldham cemeteries- mainly 20th&21st century but a smattering of 19th century records. Couldn't see any of your Jones family but you might have better luck. It's not clear how far they have got with the transcribing but there are some contact details.

yes jan tomorrow would be nice(only joking).
been looking through it again, the 1911 census, the thomas on there i think is john's brother, right birth year, been looking for john's birth,on the census81/91 she says he was born in crewe,i cannot find him,he alway's said he was born in wales.cannot believe what his mum says ,she reckons on census91 thomas age 14 is the manager of the mill i don't think so do you .john or john edward would have been born 1874/75 on count back from his death, there are millions in wales.

I wondered that too Jan, especially when I couldn't find a marriage for Ann Davies & Owen Jones in the right time frame. Big gap in potential marriages between 1871 & 1886 on FreeBMD.

If you look on Cheshire bmd I think that John Edward Davies was born Tattenhall rather than Crewe but it's not too far away.

Well done for finding Elizabeth Hannah Martyn - I didn't see that one.
