No id was required back then, as for the census data, it was commonly wrong...dates get rounded up or down. |

Hi Rambling Rose, I can't find them on the 1881 census but they are on the 1891 census with Elizabeth Letitia as a widow. |

Hi Tracey, where did you find the baptism records? I'm still fairly new to this and haven't checked any of them on line yet. I take your point about the census records being out but if the baptism you found in 1849 is for Elizabeth and Benjamin (born in 1843 and 1847), the vicar must've been very confused to put those dates in 1833 and 1837! Do you think it's definitely them (in which case you've helped me go one generation further back with their parents) or could the baptism relate to another family? |

I believe it to be them, there is only 1 Elizabeth Letitia Chesney born according to the BMD! |

Yes William Andrew was described as a "stoker" on the birth cert I have for the son William Samuel so I'm sure it's the right family on the census. |

Think this might fit if elizabeth Latitia was born in 1843. |

On familysearch.org free to look up but not always right. Look for the extracted records not the Submitted ones. |

Did you say you had the birth cert of William Samuel 1880? |

It's the census registration number, each page of each census has it's own unique reference number by using the numbers and the surname you *should* get the data you need. |

The RG number is the census ref. |
