I don't know if you can help me as I don't have a lot of information. I am looking for Edward Chapman Lindsay who was born on the 16th March 1880 in Kirriemuir, Forfarshire (Angus), Scotland. He was illegitimate son of Margaret Mealmaker Lindsay who was also born in Kirriemuir.

I don't know when he left Scotland though according one of his cousins children he fought for Australia in WW1.

He had four brothers also all illegitimate and one of them named his grandfather as his father on his marriage certificate. Edwards' grandparents were Peter Lindsay and Mary Black Mealmaker and they also came from Kirriemuir.

I was wondering if Edward married and went on to have a family of his own?

The death in NSW shows hewas 85 when he died in 1966 so that fits with your date of 1880 (though not his various dates)

Sydney Morning Herald - 7th February 1966

Lindsay, Charles Edward – February 5, 1966 at Narrabeen. Loved husband of the late Florence Lindsay, and loved father of Edward and David. Aged 85 years.

Can you help with any information about the following.

Phyllis Adlard married Brian Mullins in September, 1945 at Grimsby, Lincolnshire,England. Brian was a Flying Officer in the Australian RAF during the second World War. They emigrated to Australia after the war and lived in Boonah 4310 ,Queensland Australia. He Mother had died in 2000 and Phyllis had died before then. Can you find any records of this family

Hi, I am trying to trace a birth for Thomas Robert Grant 1872 born in Bendico, Vic.Fathers name Edwin.
He married in Birmingham, England in 1900. Can not trace any information prior to his wedding

Ditto for Keith. No such birth to be found. Perhaps he had changed his name? There is an Edwin Robert GRANT who married in Victoria in 1888 but his wife was too young to have had a child c1872.

Elizabeth Newlyn nee Gale, born 1861 in Powerstock England
married Edward Newlyn in 1880 and had a daughter Anne in 1881

they all emigrated, arriving in New South Wales on board the Dharwar on 30 Sep 1883

They had another 2 children, born in Brisbane Water district NSW:
Mary 1885 (reg 34237)
Edward 1887 (reg 36476).

Daughter Annie died in 1895 in Hurstville NSW (reg 5003).

Mary married Theodore BOX in 1908 in Sydney (reg 3743). She died in 1949 in Rockdale district NSW (reg 2848). Her husband died at Royal Price Alfred Hospital on July 24, 1924 aged only 40.

Edward NEWLYN died in 1956 in Sutherland district NSW (reg 12801), shown as son of Edward & Elizabeth.

Edward jnr married Gertrude May CHESTER in 1911 in Hurstville (reg 1754).

BUT the death in Sutherland district in 1939 for Edward NEWLYN, shown as son of Edward Gertrude (?) and May (reg 25334) appears to be Edward jnr as the funeral notice (SMH, 2nd Dec1939, see NLA Trove) lists him as son of Mrs E. Newlyn, ?brother of Mrs Box, Mrs Miller and Miss M. Newlyn...very odd!

Both Edwards are at Woronora Cemetery but Elizabeth is not with them. Theodore & Mary BOX are also there. Do you know Elizabeth's parents names?

OK Mrs MIller is a daughter of Edward jnr & Gertrude - Doris, b. 1912. She married Alfred R MILLER in 1932.

They also had a son named William b. 1911.

Gertrude died in July 1977, daughter of Harry & Elizabeth (reg 15713). She is at Woronora too. All 3 are together, plus son Wm (d. 1911) & Marjorie (d. 1980). She may be the Miss M. Newlyn in Edward's notice?
