Haha, thanks for the help anyway! Looks like this one may be a bit of a challenge. I'll have to go to Kew and have a look at the births at sea registers and see if I can get any further. |

No William Young born at sea according to FMP - but there is one image where I can't see anyone called Young at all. Some poor blighters probably regretted being born at sea - they were named after the ship! |

Ok, so you could say I've pretty much hit a brick wall with this branch of the family tree! Before 1901 the Young's seem to vanish off the face of the earth. I hadn't even thought that he may have been born on an outgoing voyage, I had just assumed it was an incoming one. And the possibility William may not have been born a 'Young' really does complicate things. |

I don't think he had another name, as Maureen said it just says William Young on his marriage certificate, and it's just William Young on Henry's birth certificate as well. |
