Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!)

Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!) Report 6 Dec 2009 12:44

Hi Derek

Wonder if you would be able to help me a bit please.

Have a George Lindley - born c1866 in Whitwell, Derbyshire. He married Amy Florence Crow in 1892 at Basford. (She was born in Market Rasen, Lincs in 1861).

I cannot find George and Amy on the censues. I might have found George in 1871 age 5 - with mum Annie Lindley and siblings Elizabeth, Walter and a sister (transcribed as Severa - no idea what her name is and the image is dreadful). I have found them in 1901 but not before.

They are not my family at all but I am involved in the local amateur theatre and researching the founder member. I was hoping to find out a bit more about George - parents etc. I am hoping to find a bit of info without having to buy any certs - I don't suppose I would be able to reclaim the costs of any and I have enough of my own to buy. Perhaps I'm being a bit mean but ...

If you can help in any way I would be most grateful.

Jill

Derek Report 6 Dec 2009 18:01

Hello Jill.......I can confirm the parents of George Lindley..as CHARLES and ANNIE (baptised Whitwell 26.03.1866).....so your 1871 Census entry is correct...........But i'll have a look at it myself and check.

Can't at this moment find much else, just thought I'd get back to you asap with at least something..

Whitwell is on the very edge of North Derbyshire....near Worksop Notts..and there is a Charles Lindley of Mossborough about 1840....which I'll look into..Mossborough also being in the same sort of area..

More later.

Oh Derek - that's fabulous - thank you.

I can't understand why they are so difficult to spot on the censuses - beginning to drive me a bit dotty!

Yes I have access to Ancestry. In fact I have my tree on there also. I have left off Wiltshire lot for a little while as I am working on a tree for one of my foster Aunts as a Christmas present. That is not an easy one either her hubby's family are from EIRE.

Hi Derek
Happy Christmas.
Wonder if you can help a couple of frustrated researchers please.
Looking for Luke Faulkner (& various spellings) born Clifton, Derbyshire about 1802. Lived all his life in Ashbourne/Sturton. Have both of his marriages to 1/Dorothy Hall & 2/Catherine Norman & all his kids from both marriages. Have him on all the censuses from 1841 until his death. Just canĀ“t find his birth or parents.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Good morning Derek and a very happy Christmas to you!! I thought I'd give you a bit of a rest from chasing up Brentnall's all over the place for a week or so...... but, I'll be back to plague you with all sorts of other queries after we've all digested our turkey or whatever!!!!! I basically just wanted to thank you for your efforts on my behalf without which I'd still be stuck at the begining of the 19th century.
Once again a very merry Christmas to you
With kind regards
Simon

Hi Michelle.........ISABELLA BOAG..is indeed a tangled web.......
She was born in Crich 1849..her parents were Robert Boag and Margaret Carr.........Robert was from Killington in northumberland .......and married margaret Carr in 1845.
But Margaret died 1848 and Robert remarried to a JANE ROBINSON in 1848.............don't ask me how or why, but by 1861 they were in Crich Derbyshire.......where Robert fathered another five children (at least) by jane........

Mary jane boag 1850
Henrietta 1852
Henry B 1854
Susanna 1856
Theodore 1860

ISABELLA BOAG married JOHN CARR of Dronfield Derbys 03.01.1866

I have no idea whether this John Carr is in any way related to isabella's mother..maybe is a cousin.....I'll keep looking.
