Hi Christine, Don't know if you find this rather confusing like me & the reason behind it is i think , I have two lots of Westalls in my family & its difficult trying to sort them out let me explain.......My Grandmother Edith Barnes was a Westall before marriage. I think they came from Ramsbury. My Mother Gladys Barnes married a Westall( Ernest) . My Dad Ernest was born in Lambourn Woodlands . His Father being George Westall & Mother Sarah Prior .I do have the names of my Gan Edith Eliza Barnes nee Westall's brothers & sister's ,Louisa, Lilian, Emily, James, Edward, George . Does this help , i have so many bits & pieces of paper with info from my Aunt Pam & my Dad as well as stuff i've copied from GR that i don't know where to turn . I haven't given you any dates as i think it will confuse the issue even more as i'm not sure of them to be correct . What i should have done was concentrate on one family instead its been the Barnes , Westall, Prior, Tuck & Hale the last two being my Husbands families. Perhaps the names i've given you may help though Regards Jenny

I am having trouble pinpointing George as I have not found him with his parents, Several possibilities though, URL adress above is from the Aldbourne communty website. If you would like to PM me we could share trees. It may help with identifying who was who. Trouble is some of mine used their middle names including William George. Now if that were a family tradition..........................

I should maybe mention that I did hear back from Jennifer by PM on Sept 1 in reply to the info about living relations I sent her. She very much appreciates the help. I'm not sure whether she's ever posted back here! so I'll send her a PM to suggest she come back to the thread.

Hi Janey & Christine, I did put a message on success stories, this wiil give a more detailed account of how things have progressed. After a meet with my cousin ,( we hadn't met for over forty years). We found several graves in St Mary's Churchyard Lambourn Woodlands Berks who were members of our family . Then to the Wheelwright pub in Lambourn as this is where our Half Uncle Joseph Prior 1901 used to play the violin , a story told by my Father , there we met one of the locals who told us that there are still members of the Prior family living in the village . Since our visit i emailed the Lambourn website editor, he sent my email to the person who deals with family research on that site, she contacted me saying that she knew the family & had infact been at school with one of them, she told me that she would see what she could find out . When i told her that i was from a village called Aldbourne & that my Father still lives there she told me that her parents used to live there also when they first married & wondered if my Father may know them . It turnes out that her father is the oldest living National Hunt Jockey at 93yrs & guess what my Dad knows him!!!!!!! apparently he once rode for a Major Powell in Aldbourne, don't know if he remembers my Dad because i haven't heard back yet. what a small world!! Regarding the Westall family almost everything that Christine sent me is connected to me , i have had contact with a Westall through matches & i have been able to give him info on a side of his family he knew nothing about & like wise with me, i have been able to tie up lots of loose ends . I had been a little confused as my Grandmother on my mum's side was a Westall before Marriage & then my Mum married a Westall . This has caused some laughs in my family.......... (you know the one about small villages & inbreeding) ......my Husband gained great pleasure from that one as he always joked about me coming from the sticks!!!! & being an inbred. My search started with a conversation with my Father when he mentioned that he wondered what had happened to one of his sister's & i offered to look into things for him . Well i traced her only to find that she had died in 1998 , but i have contact with her Grandaughter , she told me that Alice had three daughters one Joan who died in 1996 two years before her mother . I did write to the other two but had no reply shame!! but it's so long ago , but i will be meeting Alice's Grandaughter my second cousin soon i hope , we did arrange to meet in August but unfortunately my husband had to had an operation so we will have to rearrange . I am very grateful to my cousin as she sent me lots of photos of Alice & her family which i have been able to give to my Dad ,Alice now has pride of position on my Dad's dresser , my only regret is that he didn't ask me before because we have all lived so close but yet so far apart as Alice only lived a few miles away in Newbury Berks. As you can see my contact with G R has been a huge success & so it goes on as i've been researching my husbands family the Tuck's & the Hale's i can't leave it alone now i'm on here most days . Thankyou Janey & Christine Best regards JennyX

Well that has all been a resounding success, and it's so nice to hear of family reunions like that.
Now I shall leave you and cousin(?) Christine to sort yourselves and your Westalls out!
