She doesnt have a middle name on her marriage certificate and didnt as far as we are aware but thats the best match found so far!! |

She probably did not know that she was not a Ratcliff/e and there was not official adoption then. She married in the name that she was known by. |

After taking another look at the Emma to George marriage i not it was in Kensington in 1881, although Lena is listed as being born Brighton and my mother says she was born there i found this birth could this be her? |

In the 1901 census for Emma and the children there is another child listed to that on the 1891 census! born abt 1893 could he have been swapping and changing between the 2 women? |

I gave in and paid for the original image of the 1911 census for Lena and surprise surprise it shows me absolutely nothing, other than Alice is listed as a widow therefore presuming George had died. |

People may not have known where they were born. They may have moved at a very young age to an area and assumed that they were born there. I've come across a few instances of this happening. Talk about wild goose chases!! When you do eventually track them down as a child with their family they are usually living in the area where they think they were born but the place of birth is miles away!! |
