MACLEOD, Kenneth (1871-1955). During his long life the Rev. Kenneth Macleod was in contact with most of the well-known names in the Gaelic literary world, but perhaps he is best known as the Gaelic collaborator of Marjory Kennedy-Fraser.

Edit Deleted 1901 info for Kenneth as FBG already posted it below.
Sure I've seen the Bannatyne name elsewhere on my trawls around the Macleods.
Off to see if I can find Kenneth in 1891.

Not having much luck finding Kenneth in 1891.
Wonder why two of his sisters ended up in Edinburgh?
Name: Wilhelmina H Macleod Age: 27 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1874 Relationship: Serv (Servant) Gender: Female Where born: Skerray, Sutherlandshire Registration Number: 685/5 Registration district: Newington Civil parish: Edinburgh Mayfield County: Midlothian Address: 32 Mayfield Terrace Occupation: Cook ED: 81 Household schedule number: 79 Line: 10 Roll: CSSCT1901_388 Household Members: Name Age David Kirk 60 Living on own means Wilhelmina H Macleod 27 b Skerray Sutherlandshire Euphemia Macleod 20. b Island of Eigg Invernesshire Dom Serv
Their birth places match previous census info.
In previous census' David Kirk is a grocer & merchant
Interestingly there is a probate record for Wilhelmina in 1938 giving the same address and she has Kirk in her name.
Name: Williamina Kirk Humphrey Macleod Probate Date: 22 Apr 1938 Death Date: 9 Feb 1938 Death Place: Edinburgh, Scotland Registry: London It says " confirmation of Euphemia Macleod" so presumably Euphemia was still alive in 1938.
Anyone able to find them in 1911 to see if they have a stray child with them?!

There is a Macleod family tree on Ancestry Euphemia MacLeod B: 27 Nov 1873 Schoolhouse. Eigg. Parish of Small Isles. Inverness shire. Scotland. D: 9 March 1950 Western General Hospital. Edinburgh. Scotland.
Father
Donald MacLeod B: Abt 1832 Snizort. Skye. Inverness shire. Scotland. D: 10 Oct 1893 5 High St. Oban. Argyllshire. Scotland
Mother
Jessie/Jeffie Humphrey B: Abt 1837 Contin. Ross & Cromarty. Scotland. D: 4 June 1877 Schoolhouse. Eigg. Parish of Small Isles. Inverness shire. Scotland
son
Kenneth MacLeod B: 6 Feb 1871 Sandaig. Parish of Small Isles. Inverness shire. Scotland. D: 9 Jul 1955 42 East Claremont St. Edinburgh. Scotland.
Its a very comprehensive family tree
Really don't think this a branch to follow as none of the children seems to have got married & no Robert - never mind it was worth a try

I have a theory I am sure in the thread somewhere it say's that Diane was a nurse !!
Going with John Leslie Macleod 1911 Census
1911 census - household transcription Person: MACLEOD, Douglas Hamilton Address: 70b Ladbroke Grove MACLEOD, Charles Edward AlexanderHead Married 12 years M 43 1868 Surgeon Brindisi Italy MACLEOD, Edith Ann Wife Married 12 years F 37 1874 Twickenham Middlesex MACLEOD, Alexander Cameron Son M 11 1900 Scholar Notting Hill London MACLEOD, Douglas Hamilton Son M 9 1902 Scholar Notting Hill London MACLEOD, John Leslie Son M 7 1904 Scholar Notting Hill London MACLEOD, Muriel Edith Daughter F 2 1909 Notting Hill London KING, Amy Gartried Domestic Nurse Single F 24
We see that Amy King ia a nurse I am presuming for the children John Leslie born 1904 then a gap of 5 years before Muriel 1909 What if Diane's mother was the nurse for John Leslie Diane born 1906
Now living not too far away is Charles Edward Macleod's brother
1911 Census
MACLEOD, Roderick Alexander Head Married M 41 1870 Doctor Of Medicine India VIEW MACLEOD, Florence Wife Married 20 years F 38 1873 London VIEW MCLEAY, William Husband Of House Keeper Married M 35 1876 Porter London VIEW MCLEAY, Beatrice Maud Housekeeper Married F 29 1882 House-Keeper Norwich VIEW RG number: RG14 Piece: 457 Reference: RG14PN457 RG78PN15 RD5 SD2 ED25 SN559
Registration District: St George Sub District: Belgrave Enumeration District: 25 Parish: St George Hanover Square
Address: 93 Charlwood St Pimlico S W County: London
as you can see they do not have children and Roderick was born in India going back to 1881 Census of the 2 brothers Charles and Roderick we have them with their sister Annie D M Macleod wouldn't it be delicious if Annie's middle name is Diane
Alexander Macleod 62 Physician surgeon major Isle of Skye Charles E. Macleod 13 Ewan C. Macleod 12 Roderick Macleod 11 Annie D.M. Macleod 10 born 1871 Mary North 24 Sarah Howells 36 Sarah A. Howells 11
so my theory is Diane's mum is nurse to Charles's children she gets pregnant by either Charles or Roderick either one of them could settle money on her Or was Annie D M Macleod Diane's mother
NAME: Annie D M Macleod BIRTH: abt 1872 DEATH: Mar 1961 - Liverpool South, Lancashire, England
or have I not only thought outside the box but the box has disappeared

Also found it interesting on FreeBMD to search Macleod and Wandsworth all types. A few interesting names right around the entry for Diane's marriage.

Diminima? Where DO people get these names from?
I know what you mean LK - everywhichway we turn, there seems to be a tenuous link but nothing concrete - as yet!
Oh for a breakthrough so that we can see light at the end of this very long tunnel.......sigh..... :-S

Not another nun!!!!
A couple of the Goddard-Fenwicks became nuns!
I remember the name Bellerive from when I lived in Liverpool.
This thread is making the world a smaller place!

Thank you everyone for working so hard on my behalf, sadly at the moment my life has been taken over by the big C, Ron my husband needs my support and all my time seems to be taken up with this. We have a wonderful Oncology unit here on the island and we are very grateful for that. The treatment Ron is receiving is second to none but we do know that there is no cure for him just buying some time. Heartfelt thanks to you all your help means a lot to me Love to you all Evelyn XX
