This only leaves the following possibles - can you eliminate which ones you have received which were wrong?

Hi Lesley,
I have just received a marriage cert today for my husbands great grandparents
It doesn't tell me the mothers names only the fathers,so i wondered if you would please try to find the households before the marriage of the children in 1878
in 1881 census this Robert states place off birth as Bow

On the cert it says
Robert Faulkner
age 19 Labourer
address James Street ( i think this would be in Peckham London.
father James Faulkner occ Painter (i think,it's hard to read)

St Mary Magdalene parish church Peckham 30th Sep 1878

then we have
Amy Roland age 19 sometimes spelt Rowland
father Robert Roland occ Gardener
no address or occ is given by her name
I do know that the Rolands were travelers and Amy's real name is Bethany,born in Eastbourne sussex

I know that Amy had an older sister called Pheobe,so she may show up on the 1871 as well living with parents,she married in 1880
I think the families all lived in the Peckham/Camberwell area of London

Hi Lesley, Thank you for your kind offer,

please could i ask you to look for Harriett Adelaide Murphy, Husband John Murphy, not sure if they had children. They were married in Brighton 1888, but Harriett was born in St Saviour's, Middlesex 1871.

Please could i have the 1891 / 1901 census.

Any chance you can look for a Mary Ann Herbert b 1813 Wooton Basset Wiltshire.
later married a John Goodwin in 1844 ish

What made you state Wootton Bassett as they married in Lambeth

On a later census shes shown as b Wooton Bassett Wiltshire there is oddly enough another Mary Ann Herbert in Wooton Basset she probably married a Herbert and lived to a ripe old age.
my Mary Ann ??? Herbert died in 1863 after having 3 children to John Goodwin.
I think I shall have to get the marriage cert.

1841 Henrietta Caroline Stoken Smith c1823, Mother Sarah, her father died and Sarah remarried 1833 Henry Wessel.

Now i have more questions than answers,should keep me occupied for a while.
On the marriage cert she gives her father as Robert Roland a gardener.
But the Hawker William sounds more like it to me.

Oh forgot to say,
no i don't have Bethanys birth cert,so will have to locate her and buy it.
She changes where born on the census's after her marriage.
On most she states born Peckham,but on the 1891 she states Eastbourne!
I have looked on freebmd,and the only birth i could find for a Bethany Roland was in Eastbourne in 1857

i have just checked out your Phoebe birth and guess what Aukfield is in Sussex as well.
I wonder if William was an uncle or other relation that they were staying with.

Yes it stated daughter on Census Record.

However be aware that the marriage record was only taken by what the Bride & Groom Stated so his name could have been William Robert but he chose to be called Robert. The marriage certificate can never be taken as gospel. That census record just seems to pinpoint Amy & Phoebe and they are not common names.

Emma was definitely down as wife on the census record.
