Thanks janice we are still in edinburgh and born in edinburgh my mother and father where married in scotland i presume edinburgh as well, unsure why my mother went so far as to london when she left we know she booked herself into a mental institution in i think bow london.......only really been told little bits and bobs also not mannaged to find marraige cert

Have you tried going to Edinburgh GRO, the records will be there although they are not on line yet.
Marriages do not go that far on line from Scotlands People.
My Father came from Edinburgh and I have many cousins and relatives still in Edinburgh.
I have found most of my Lost Family on Scotlands People or through Edinburgh GRO searches on site.
Your Father you say is Charles Hunter, does he have a Middle name?
What year was he born?
What year were you Born?
One can assume from your Father's age and when you were born what year your Parents could have married.
Then it is a case of searching the records for those years.
I know you are trying to find your Mother, but really the marriage certificate for your Parents will tell us so much, it will give your Mothers age when she married and much more.
It will also tell us what her Middle Name is?
Send me the answer's to these questions and I will try and get someone to check the records at Edinburgh GRO for you.

hi jean i have had some great information from janice who is so so helpful...wrote of to numerous places sent letters and emails last week so really just waiting on the replies from archives and hospital.....got load of numbers as well tried good few but unfortunately none of them my mum but it is all worth and try janice is a busy bee she finds out so much info..hopefully the info i receive back from the letters will give me a better idea x
