Hi Ann,
Thanks for your offer of help. I'm trying to find the name and details of the first wife of James Castle b1850. He was a widower when he remarried in 1874 in Holmfirth, Yorkshire to Elizabeth Clegg and was 23 at the time. So I guess his first marriage must have been not too long before that. I've been given the surname LODGE, perhaps Elizabeth, but am not sure that's correct.

I have a copy of 1861 and 1871 census for them one says they were born in Scotland and the other says Ireland.

Hi anne elizabeth thanks i have that info i think they were born in ireland along with one of their brothers all the other children born in scotland, but i can't seem to find a marraige or death for either girls. i was wondering if they might have gone into service but don't know how i would find that out. cheers jean

Ive had a look through the census's and the marriages im not 100% but I do think it would probably look more like Mary Ann Sarah Grisbook in Dec 1857 Bethnal Green, London.

Sorry but no it doesnt give his mothers maiden name all it has is what I wrote also I have found a marriage of an Arthur Hill in 1905 in Bareilly but it doesnt say anything else about who he married or anything but ive looked it up and Bareilly is in India. Hope this helps you.

Not sure if this is the right one as there are a few but this one was born in 1876 and lived in Keighley, if it is the right one theres a good chance that Josephs mothers maiden name is either Jenkinson or Sunderland as there was a marriage in 1973 for both of them names to a William Binns, hope this is of some help, sorry I havent looked back any further just in case this is not the right person.

Can you look up Stephen Stevenson born c 1789 found on 1851 census but loose him after that - his wife appears in 1871 census Sarah Stevenson (c. 1804) with Daughter Sarah Stevenson (c.1831) but none of the family are in 1861 census - children of Sarah and Steven

Sorry the only census I have managed to find them in are the same as you but I have found 2 deaths if that is any help.

Stephen Stevenson death july-sept 1856 Surrey. Sorry age or birth year not known for this one.

Sarah Stevenson death Oct - Dec 1877 she was aged 73 years which looks like its definitely the right person and that was in Camberwell, Surrey.
