Kirsty,i have Thomas 1871,s grandson checking for his birth cert.he knows it's in the family ,but not sure who has it.That should tell us who that hussy Ann is, Jane wasn't on the 1881 because they had her locked in the cupboard under the stairs, then when she agreed to have his children they let her out. And they all lived happily ever after.(after they killed Ann)

stick to the GRO which is the main records office

RO is the local records office ie Wigan, Sheffield etc

I use the GRO online but have just started using the local ones.

NEVER pay more then £7.00

You can ask for some information to be checked on the certificate when you order it but you will be charged for it I think it is about £3.00 for each thing they check.

ie maiden name, mother/fathers name, date of birth/death etc
