Ive found my maternal grandparents names, Gladys Power and Arthur Brooks for my (batty and not reliable, love her lots) mother.(Born in 1943)
But, i have no idea as to wedding date, and my sister tells me that she thinks gran may have married more than once.
so.... do i presume Power is maiden name.... or possible first married name?
all i know for certain is that she died when i was about 18months old, so about 1967/8
suggestions as to where to go now? (i am new but willing to learn!)

First of all we need to find your mothers birth details this will give us her mothers maiden name.

Also does/did your mother have any siblings?

I can have a look for this information for you if you don't have access to find my past or ancestry and if you would rather send me the details in private click on my name and send me a message that way.

If you can give me as much info as possible

ie
name
place of birth
and a year +/- of birth

Me knowing the eldest sibling helps to narrow the year of marriage down

and the same sort of info for your grandmothers death place and a rough age.

my mothers maiden name is Brooks, she was born Mavis A Brooks in 1943.
she has an older sister Janet, who died this January, i dont know her birthdate, but was led to beleive she was about 10 years older.
there is also a brother David who i think comes inbetween.
they were all born in the London area (not v narrow i know, sorry)
Gladys, my mothers mum died in about 1967/8, from the one photo i have she looks to be in her late 50's early 60's
Arthur her second husband died when my mum was young, in about 1952-55 ish.
any good? i hate being so vague... perhaps thats why this hunt began!

I think you need to get your mother's birth cert. I will keep looking for a marriage but so far no luck.

changed his name to William Bushnell Budd on entering the police,
Named children Bushnell Budd,later dropping the Budd becoming Bushnell on his polce pension,
.not too fussed as to why ,as i've changed my surname,just didn't
like it, perhaps he felt the same,
On the 1911 census it says 11 children born,7 still living..so i,ve been
trying to find the 4 deaths,just have one and thats NELLIE.
Have looked at other family members trees and most seem to be alive and
well after 1911..they were

That would make the 11 assuming Thomas no 1 was mine?
