Logging in does appear to be faster today, currently only a few seconds as against the 30 or more it has been taking recently, so something must have happened.

I almost always use the co.uk site.

I've been trying all day to get in, but the door was locked.

Finally here!

com.au - not co.uk

Not sending a thankyou (they don't deserve one), but will acknowledge that it is (for now) working.

:-D

Having a larger browser cache and clearing it out on a regular basis is always a good idea and can avoid problems when trying to load large web pages such as the GR tree. In fact sorting out the browser cache was one of the first things we used to do at work when a user complained that a web page they regularly used suddenly failed to load correctly.

However, these solutions are not necessarily a cure for the sort of performance issues currently being experienced by members although they could well provide temporary relief.

I couldn't sign in. Couldn't get in via a contact message. I got in via a PM.

Parts of messages received from GR....... all copy & paste.........

We have been doing some testing and as a result the .com.au site has been forwarding members to the .co.uk site.

I have tried logging in with your details and not been able to myself this morning.

I am sorry to hear that you had problems using our tree. I have spoken to our developers and the good news is that the problem doesn't lie with the tree. It seems that there has been a problem connecting to our servers which then causes the error message. If you leave it a short while and go back to the tree it should work again correctly. I do apologise for the inconvenience.

Good - it's not my computer......... finally GR has admitted they may be at fault.

Bad - they state the problem doesn't lie with the tree............ it's THEIR server!

What's a "short time" ? Two minutes? Two days?

I've been telling GR for days that I was being taken to co.uk, but kept getting Blah Blah Blah response. Finally somebody read the message and now admit it was THEIR FAULT.

I'm here on co.uk - I live in New South Wales !!

There used to be a user option in FF to select the no of days to keep history but I think it was removed from the latest versions, which now only allows you to select keep or not keep.

I think the keep default is 90 days but you need to edit the config file to change it, which is not something for the technically inexperienced.

The settings will be under Tools, Options, Ann.

Which browser and version do you normally use as they vary slightly from one to the other.

Sorry Suzanne but NOT everybody is having problems signing in.

Joy mentioned on another thread (the one by Rollo that was RRd) that Genes say the problem is with the size of the Cookie that Genes give you that has the information to automatically identify you and re-log you in.

I do not have any problems with automatically logging in but that is probably becsuse whilst I have a large tree of nearly 3000, people, I only have few hundred personal messages and no attached records.

So it seems that the longer standing and more active members are more likely to have a problem then new sign ups ??
Perhaps this is the reason why My Threads does not work for some people either??

The only problems I currently have all relate to the new tree which I have stopped using until some of the bugs get sorted out. I got fed up of continually reporting them so I shall wait on an Anouncement before trying again.
