Treforest ....... South Wales

The "Welsh" alternative name for Treforest is Trefforest as FF is phonetically= an English F, whereas F= an English V.

This is a HYBRID word however. Tre in Welsh means Town. Forest is obviously an English word.
Forest in Welsh is Coedwig. With mutation of the C to G after the Tre, it should really be Tregoedwig and not Trefforest.

Interestingly Google Translate says that this means Denbigh Moors. It probably is on Denbigh Moors but the literal translation means Hiraeth (homesickness or nostalgic longing) and Og meaning Harrow

So possibly gives the idea of a sad longing for home.
