I am trying to find any information about my father in law's military record. I know he served in India and Burma WW2 and we are pretty sure he was in the Chindits. I have entered his name in various sites but it would seem that he isn't there, can anyone give any suggestions please.

WW2 service records are still with the MOD and are not online. Have a look here to find out how to apply for them (they will cost £30 and take quite a while to arrive):-

Wives and children get significantly more info than more distant relolies/strangers, so have your wife apply.

Thank you for your replies, I have looked at the MOD site and the form I hope they can find him as I have a number but I'm not 100% sure that it is his service Number as it was scribbled on the back of a photo. Thank you anyway
