Hi, I am wondering if a relative or children of his are on here. His name was Alan Francis Pratt, born 1940, last known address in Chippenham, Wiltshire. His father was Leslie John and his mother was a Brazilian called Ismenia

The mother died in 1996

The parents and a male child aged 9 months travelled to Brazil in March 1939 - presumably Alan was born out there

Do some research….look for a marriage, and then for possible children.

Alan and his wife were on the ER for Chippenham in 2004.

Their house was sold in 2004, and it doesn't appear to have been sold again since then.

It would be a very long shot, but perhaps you could try writing to the present owners, just in case they know where Alan moved to - or could forward your letter to the estate agents through whom they bought the house in 2004, who might know.

Looking at ER, James D Hill and his wife are listed at that address from 2005 ,until at least 2018, when they may have opted out of the public ER.

He was still in Chippenham in 2004 with wife Anne

Sorry Shirley, but I agree with Erika that we should be careful in identifying elderly people. Some of these people are vulnerable and as we don’t know which of them are we must surely take some care.

Much better to track them and then find the next generation and pass on that information. It can be very unnerving to get a communication from someone claiming to be family and even worse to have someone knock on the door. I had a friend who had that happen, two men who were relatives of her ex husband.

The firm appears to still be in operation as accounts to last year , last statement September 2023 ( wife's family possibly) send them a letter.

A daughter was born in 1967, and probably married in 1990, both events in Chippenham.
However, I don't see her or her husband on any recent ER.

Just to state to anyone having a panic, I AM related, and I am doing a family history piece for the local museum on his aunt (very close with her sister, Alans mum) who was the girls schools head mistress. I know he'd be in his 80's, and I'm not likely to rock up to his door, being that I'm in Devon, not Chippenham!
