Maybe Ann was the informant

The fathwr.is my brother in law , yes he is in my tree
Her siblings never had contact. They don't know if she knows about them.

By the time she was 2 the relationship broke down. Yes he was 18, she was too and apparently they tried to make it work. But due to age they seperated.

The father was not in touch with her but told his other children about her all their lives. The father has since died.

I have ordered the parents marriage certificate and her birth certificate for clues. They haven't arrived yet.


I could not find a birth for her mum
I can't find a marriage for either her or mum, I can't find wither on electorial roles or 192.com
I don't know if they ever divorced. I have his partners names but no marriages.

She has 3 half siblings with her father. I am not aware of any full siblings

I have searched ancestry and find my past, gro and freebmd. I have searched the names on Google.

Ron's birth .... I don't understand why this is relevant.
Ronald d spinks, mother's maiden name vinnell. Born paddington sept qtr 1950. Volume 5d page 317. Mother was Anne vinnell previously Logan and others. I have Anna Logan's tree, I have Ronald spinks cole tree. I have his other children. I am looking for the first wife and daughter.

I looked for ann birth and only Ann M that came up with one born 1946 which is the one I went back on

Their marriage certificate will help indentify her age and fathers name then you can go back to find her birth

I have been through other options from possible parents via b,s records and not come up trumps..


There is an Anne Sinclair in Windsor, b 1951 married Bevan 1971 as Anne Sinclair, so unlikely this is her.


I saw the Pauly/Sinclair birth but it's wrong location. However the only ANN. M. The parents for this Ann married in Hendon and died in Barnet. I can't find any other options for their daughter, so I'll apply for the death certificate as suggested above.

18 year olds got the vote in 1969 so both Ronald and Ann should have been on the Electoral Roll.

You need to bear in mind the following. Ann may not have coped and had Michelle adopted.
Ann may have taken another man’s name and also given it to Michelle.
They may have emigrated.

You say the parents separated - not that they divorced. If they didn't divorce, the mother couldn't legally re-marry

Yes. I am not sure if they divorced.

Unfortunately Ron died a few years ago and I didn't think to ask him before he died. It was a bit of a shock.

I haven't found any evidence of a divorce or any remarriage. I have no proof either way for this. I suspect they divorced but without evidence anything is possible.

No apparent re-marriage for the father

The only document which will help, as far as I can see, is the 1968 marriage cert

If the mother knew her father's details, they will be recorded, and may help to identify her birth
The names of the witnesses may be helpful
It will also give you her second forename............

Re remarriage of the mother -

There are lots of marriages for women named Ann M Cole, from 1970 onwards.
Any one (or none) of them could be hers.
It's impossible to tell without buying lots of certs.
Location isn't necessarily a clue nowadays, when people move around so much.

For the same reason, you can't rule out the Sinclair/Pauly birth on grounds of "wrong location".

For instance I was born in london.lived in Tunbridge wells and Birmingham during ww2 then back to SE London till late 60,s then we moved to Kent where I have been ever since

Hubby too moved around in his younger years including living in Torquay Devon

Peoples circumstances and events often meant moving around :-D
