i really have not got a clue on how to use these sites im looking for my dad who i have never met hes name is william charles long born in 1935 in west ham son to william long and lilian gladys long formerly benmore of 39 shipwright street canning town i know my dad was a baker and i think my dad got married in 1965 and i am told i have a brother and sister whos names are lisa marie and dwayne if anyone could help i would be most grateful im scared that time is ticking as he is quite old :-(

Have you searched all members trees to see if William or his parents are listed on anyones trees? The link is at the top right, under Search. If they are listed, send the tree owner a message asking how they are related. Do bear in mind that they may not know about you, so couch the message along the lines that your Mum and William used to be good friends.

Not seeing a 1965 marriage in the correct general area. Is this hear-say or founded on facts?

hi thank you so much for your help you have found a lot more than me and i have been searching for years my dad knows about me he left when i was one year old i have hes birth certificate and that is hes mum /my nan lilian so my grandads name was william long too i have been trying to trace a death certificate for my nan so could see who registered her death i really diddnt realise i had auntys and uncles you have made my day xx

I think this might be William and Lilian 1939? the 'S' looks like a G to me , comparing it with other 'S's...

hi i know my nan lilian and william long lived in canning town and got married in 1934 the year before my dad was born i keep on seeing the name collins too so she would of remarried very late on im not coming up with any tree matches which is frustrating but on the other hand have never got this far i have spent hundreds over the years and always hit a brick wall thank you all for your help <3

Well done Rose for finding the 1939. Unless they moved overseas, it does suggest William and his next 2 siblings were alive in 1991.

One of Williams siblings was born in 1945. She is a Sheila

Found her marriage and she is on the electoral rolls to 2014
