Find Living Relatives

My great grandmother was born Isabella Rae, in Scotland in 1851. Her husband was John Braid Fletcher, and they had ten children, amongst them my grandfather Angus M Fletcher who married Catherine McDougall.

Their children were John Braid Fletcher and Isabel Rae Fletcher. Would love to go back even further in tracing my Scottish relatives, and know I must have dozens of relatives from the Rae/Fletcher families.

To go further back, you should register with ScotlandsPeople, if you haven't already done so.

It's not a subscription site, unfortunately - you have to buy credits to see records.
Having said that, the parish records from before 1855 can be not very informative, with minimal detail.

If you look up Isabella's marriage on SP, you can view / print the image of the original. It will tell you Isabella and John's parents' names, and then you can progress backwards to find the parents' marriages, and so on.

According to the censuses, Isabella (aka Bella) was born in Ayrshire, variously Colmonell or Ballantrae.

So this could be her in 1861, especially as she later had children named James and Janet (though admittedly common names):
