I'm trying to find marriage and possible death records of Jeffrey E Logan who was born in Bridgend 1941
Jeffrey is my dads son from his first marriage in Bridgend 1940
His parents names was Peter Logan and Ivy Frances nee Harris. I have their marriage cert and Ivy's birth and death records from BMD
Ivy died in 1943.
Dad was posted at a nearby RAF base with the Royal Artillery.

I don't know what happened between Ivy's parents and my dad after the war it may have been an amicable leaving of the baby with Ivy's parents but my dad returned to Liverpool.
I would be grateful of any input

Have you looked on freebmd for any possible marriage for him

He could also be the informant on one of his grandparents death certs

Yes I've looked on BMD for a marriage and death but I've not managed to find anything.

His grandparents death certificates never crossed my mind and it should have as my mum was the informant on her grandmother's certificate.

I'll search those straight away

Thank you

Hi malyon

Thank you so much for the information.
I did wonder if he used the surname Harris, I'll have to look for anyone on here with him in their tree

I did look for the deaths of the grandfather and the closest I found was two years out on the age. He's a high possibility.
The closest I could find on the grandmother was a death in 1945 Cardiff

Thank you for your help

Kind regards

Pam

Sorry I didn't say that my mum told me when dad came home from the war that his first wife (Jeffrey's mother) had died and her parents had adopted Jeffrey.
I wasn't sure if it was true as dad never spoke of the war or any family.
Though I do have all his ancestry and my mums except for my mums mother and half sister who both seen to have vanished in the 20s and 30s respectfully.

malyon

malyon Report 18 Sep 2015 21:25

what was the half sister's name

Pam

Pam Report 18 Sep 2015 22:09

Her name was Mary Eliza fowler.
She took her step father Levi Cowdell's surname and on her marriage to Job Taylor in Birstall she was Mary Eliza fowler Cowdell
She was born in Birstall. West Yorkshire app 1892 to Carie Fowler.

I'm off to bed now but if you're interested in a brick wall I'd be really pleased if you could make any headway.
I have loads of my mums ancestry but after about 1932 Mary Eliza vanished.
She was living in Mevagissey. Cornwall along with her mother and my mother at Lavorick Orchard.
Mum left about 1932 and that was the last she saw of her aunt.

Hi malyon

Yes that's them.

Mary Eliza married Job Taylor who was wounded in WW1 as mum had said they had to save all their pennies to pay for his recuperation.
I'm not sure if Job died or what but Mary Eliza met a man sometime in the 1920s who I don't want to name on the boards, he was single and needed someone to look after his house and gardens while he was away travelling. Mary Eliza took on that roll, eventually Carie and mum went to join her

Some time in the early to mid 1930s mum and Carie moved to Surrey where mum married in 1936.
Whatever happened to Mary Eliza neither I or mum knew.
I've even trawled the cemeteries and death records in Mevagissey personally all to no avail.

Mums mother Mary Elizabeth Cowdell married Edward Patchet in Bradford 1920 she had a daughter who also died in the same quarter she was born
After that there's no sign of them
Mum was brought up by her grandmother Carie and aunt Mary Eliza.
I hope this lot helps
Kind regards
Pam

Yes that's her baby.

I'm sure that's the death I found and phoned the registrar to be told the woman had a different maiden name
I will try again though to be 100 pee cent sure
None of the Cowdell's or Patchett's I've contacted have any idea what happened to Mary Elizabeth though one speculated he committed adultery and went to prison for it!
You're being so busy I feel guilty I can't do more

Oh wow. It is a very high possibility isn't it. Does it mention where in Yorkshire? I like to use the local register offices for certificates when I can.
I'll send for the certificate tomorrow.
It sounds strange but it would be lovely if it was her so I can at last know where my grandmothers resting place is.
I'll keep you informed about it.

It would be so special if both half sisters could be found so they get their final resting place in the family history records

Kind regards
Pam
