I am looking for my family my grandad name was George Thomas Nixon born in Staffordshire he was born in 1896 he got marriage in 1928 to my nan Edith Bennett on Christmas day it would be nice to see if I have got a family out there

I am looking for my grandad family nixon he lived in Staffordshire it would be nice my mum die and than my stepfather die so I do not know if I have a family in Staffordshire or not but it would a surprise

You need to work back from the marriage

The certificate will give you their ages ,and fathers names if known ,

Sometimes things fall into place without certs but info needs verification along the line to keep you on the right track as it's surprising how many folks have the same name.,
Don,t forget too that people may have stayed in the same area but also may have moved around for work

No one can tell you sorry

You need to verify first that we have found the right family and then try and follow the other siblings through for bmd,s

You can also look in search members trees to see if anyone has them in tree then try to make contact

We can only help with some look ups YOU have to do some research too yourself and buy some certificates to verify the right family

We would recommend that you check on GTN's MC that his father 'is' Charles. If you don't have a copy, order it from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ @£9.25

Its always best to document your direct line.

Look on any subscription sites or https://familysearch.org/ for the 1891 and 1901 census for Charles and Eliza to try and find the missing child. The 1911 posted earlier states they had 4 children, all living. Wilfred, Charles and xxThomasxx (EDIT - not Thomas, George!) are at home. You need to find the missing one.

Use http://www.staffordshirebmd.org.uk/index.php and http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl to identify their full names.
Then look for marriages and/or deaths on either site. Neither site are completely up to date. Freebmd only intends to transcribe up to 1973 and Staffs BMD tend to have a 100 year closure.
If the names are common, you may need to purchase certificates.

Once you have found probable marriages, you can search for children using just the father's surname, the mothers maiden name (after Sep 1911) a suitable time frame and area. As George Thomas moved to London, you can't entirely rule out others having migrated.

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills gives details of Estates that went to Probate. This is handy trying to workout if a death is one of 'your' family. Not all Estates went to Probate.

Search all members trees for the names you have. If anyone else has them listed, send the tree owner a message to see if they can help. Its best to explain how you may be related to the named person.

We could probably bring the family forward to more recent times, but part of the fun of FH is doing it yourself! Its not a cheap hobby - you do have to spend out on the occassional certificate

George was not the only child Wilfred born in 1890 Elsie born 1892 Charle Edgar born 1905
