Raymond Wockenforth Liverpool

I am looking for information on a Raymond Wockenforth born in Liverpool in 1935.

I actually have quite a large amount of info and dates and think he may have passed but cannot find any death record for him.

One possible lead is that he died in London?

The surname has also been spelled Wockenfoth and Wockenfuss on some records as the family was descended from Prussia/Preuben in the late 1800's.

Any info would be helpful.

Many thanks

Well if he passed after 2005/6 then those deaths records aren't online I,m afraid

Hi Shirley - thanks for the comment..I just notice I got the birth date wrong and amended it...

My mum has told me he did die in London - death maybe reported by neighbours and found by police etc...

The R Wockenforth on electoral rolls in 2003 is a Raymond T Wockenforth (I think his son...)...

A slightly delicate trace as we quite a colourful family I think... :-0

I thought I read it as 1958 and then thought I was having a senior moment when looking again and was 1935

Paulla

Paulla Report 2 Aug 2015 14:14

No senior moment at your end!

Out of interest - are you having any success with your own search? Are you active in helping other people find theirs?

I can't really physically go to the various records offices as I am in The Netherlands...

Am just frustrated as there is no death recorded but also no "living" records for him - a mystery...

Nothing coming up for him on the death records

No. Have now tried to contact some Wockenforths in Liverpool and am waiting to see if anyone contacts me...

I wondered if he was not identified?! :-0

There's a contact address (Feb 2014) for presumably his son here - would you consider writing to him?

Thanks Shirley - yes, we have all this - my mum is going to write..

Another thing - out of interest - how have you got on with finding any info re your German roots and researching the surname Fahse? I've been trying to find documents of when my last know Wockenforth came from Preuben (Prussia) - have lots of info from when he was once in this country but can't find any immigration or naturalization docs etc.. of course, the name was maybe spelled different (see initial post) and many sites are in German (which we can deal with as my husband speaks German)...phewie..its hard work'- I would love to find a birth certificate etc for him (born 1826) and who his mother was...

do you have that certificate to see whether he named his father? ah yes probably since you are looking for his mother's name ...

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 5 Aug 2015 18:49

the name is not common ...

have you considered this possibility?

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NZZR-VB4

Name Carl August Bernhardt Wockenfuss
Event Date 1828
Gender Male
Birth Date 04 Dec 1828
Birth Year 1828
Birthplace Stettin, Pommern, Preußen, Germany
Mother's Name Louise Wockenfuss

age 42 in the 1871 census would match a late 1828 birth

there are births earlier in the 1800s to Johann Daniel Wockenfuss and (Dorothea) Louisa Ehlers in Pommern, Preußen, Germany

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 6 Aug 2015 07:31

Sorry only just looked again at this thread

No am at a standstill with my paternal German grandads famlly .

They appear in 1889 as a son was born in Bradford Yorkshire ,have the cert, then on the 1891 and 1901 census . Only give place of birth as Germany,

Went to Kew to see if any naturalisation papers but none.

The mum Maria dies in the German Hospital Dalston in 1907 and the death cert shows they were living with one of the married sons who like my grandad had anglisied his name to Fasey. By 1911 the grt grandad had gone but doesn't show in the death records .no sign after 1901 either of the other two brothers including the one born in 1889.
Very frustrating ,they came to the UK stayed about 20 years then disappeared

:-(

So -another missing death certificate...was it quite common back then? Do you have a family tree on Ancestry.com? Would love to take a look and see if I can help at all...when people anglisise their names it becomes harder huh :-|

Thanks Malyon - no this is not him...well and truly in Liverpool...our mystery is that we know he died in London 1969/1970 but I can't find a death certificate...we are able to make contact with members of the family so hope to get to the bottom if this soon - a bit of a sad end to his life I think...
