Not all early birth entires show a inital name,this can be its been missed off in transcribing,it was given at a baptism.so wont be in the birth GRO entry.---or they were born outside the UK so wont appear anyway.

My own fathers birth entry doesnt show his middle name,but ibecause its a surname,his birth has an entry under that aswell,! also its wasnt used on his marriage.but his death entry shows his full name as it was supposed to be in the birth indexes.

Have you checked the home address on the paperwork you have Travis, to confirm any additional Evans surname lived there.


Have you checked to see if your birth details are listed in family members tree who knew of you.?

There is info on the twins born including marriages and a current address for at least one of them

If you are a child of Madeline and adopted it may be that they don't know about you so you need to tread very carefully . Usually the advice is to use an intermediary

not unusual for a member to ask questions on behalf of a friend or family member, but if that is the case it should be explained

You can use any name you choose as long as it is not for fraudulent reasons.

The birth certificate will be in the name her parents gave her. After that, she could have used either of her names when she married, or changed the order of them. On a death certificate it depends on the relationship of the person who is the informant. They will give the information they have regarding name and date of birth but that doesn't mean to say the information they have is correct.

I find that birth certificates are more likely to be correct - but even these can contain errors.

The second name on the death cert is only as known to the informant, who could have had inaccurate info

Do you have your adoption file?

There is also the possibility that her death certificate has the wrong birth date.

Who are the witnesses on the marriage certificate?

Her marriage certificate should state Evan Evans occupation,,,,,he could have been a mlitary man and she could have been born abroard?,,,,,,,perhaps Evan was a stepfather?

Have you looked for a birth certificate with the first names the other way round? I can't find a birth of a Madeleine P. Evans but there are quite a few Patricia M. Evans births. Perhaps she just liked to be known by her middle name.

I can find a birth cert for my birth mother. I know she married in 1953
Her name Madeline Evans. Then became Madeline michalec died in 1994 .
Her death cert says her middle name patricia. Her father Evan James Evans.
