Hello Shirley,
There is a letter from a solicters office in Tewkesbury. My friends mother lived Chepstow area, she then went to unmarried mothers home in Cheltenham, then to the church of england childrens socitety home in swansea till she was 9 mths old. Then long term fostered in the Chepstow area.
There are no blood family. I have suggested that she gets her file from social services to see if her fathers fall name is in there somewhere.

Does she know her mums name? maybe she can find family of her mum .

Sounds like her mum didnt want to have her adopted but maybe wasnt in the position to look after her

the areas could fit ... if the person was not a young chap at the time of your friend's birth

it's one to think about anyway

definitely getting the social services file is the place to start

My friend had very limited contact with her mother once/twice a year. It was only on her mothers death she found a book with letters/photos in. Just started on this so yes I was going to see about her mothers family. Letters were from other mothers from the mothers home one did sign her full name and I think she may be on someones tree. I have mailed them just to ask if they know (person name) and if so could they ask if she remembers (persons name) .

Mothers name Dorothy May Nelmes b april 1927. I think I might of found her on fbm but born in 1926. westbury on Severn.
Think she had brother Albert and sister Marion.
She was unmarried in 1956.
Dorothy worked in Sedbury when she got pregnant.

Dorothy's parents are Lily May and Albert Nelmes (just found marriage on BMD).

I had thought a dob of 1917 might have made him a little old but I see your friend's mother was born in1926 and was unmarried at 30

if you do the search I suggested, you'll note an apparent marriage breakdown (after last child born 1948) and eventual remarriage (both parties) which would also fit the situation

just a probably remote possibility but since the name is unusual I wonder whether someone might remember it, if it were the right name

Do you have dates on the maintenance slips? If there are some dated after 1969 you can rule out Jesse because he died.

I have now looked I was putting in JessiE and coming back with nothing that matched what you said.
I have found Jesse 2 marriages and 2 children from his 1st marriage.

When she was telling me about it she did say that she had the name Jesse in her head. Her foster mum must of told her.
