This has me stumped!!!
Joseph Swinbank born Coundon County Durham 1st Jan 1904 married a Mary H Wilson in September 1926 had 6 children Joseph 1926-1931. Mary 1932-1934. Christopher H 1935, Doreen 1937, John Swinbank 1939 and Margaret Swinbank 1942 all born in Auckland County Durham.
Search as I might cannot find a death for Joseph or what happened to surviving children just seems that Joseph and his children just disappeared any help appreciated.

Found that too Shirley still cannot find Joseph. Yes big possibility in fact big yes!!!!

So if that was Mary who remarried has Joseph died prior to that date or were they divorced??? HELP!!!

EDIT: Between 1900 and 1908 there is only one Joseph Swinbank registered and that is the one in Auckland.

There is a joseph Henry Swinbank born in 1905 Devon that this death would be for

The one born in Durham was born jan 1904 so not the same guy :-)

It is possible they just parted (divorce very expensive) which is why Joseph was in Devon

Joseph was obviously out of the picture by 1934 as all the later children are registered under the surname Shield as well as Swinbank.

I have seen all this all I want to know if anyone can help in finding a deth for Joseph Swinbank born in Coundon County Durham in 1904 Jan 7th. I know he married had 6 children last one born 1942 just trying to trace his death.
Henry was never in his name I thank you all for your valiant efforts just hoping some one out there had any real cast iron info as I have I think exhausted all avenues

Joseph may not be the father of all 6 children. Christopher, John, Doreen and Margaret are all registered under the name SHIELD as well as Swinbank. (Christopher's details are posted above).

Do you have the birth certificates of these children? It may be worth trying to trace their families as they might know what happened to Joseph.

Got to stop the rumour mill!!! Rose the Shield family have nothing to do with the Swinbank family. I lived and was brought up in the same village as the Shield family just a coincidence that their mother was called Wilson so SHIELD nothing to do with Swinbank!!

Looked at the children of Shield and Swinbank all children have the same first names and initials....wonder if the registrar has made a mistake or has the wife of Joseph as Rose said end of Joseph 1934 took up with Jossie Shield and had these children many perms to look at fascinating really Swinbank's being my near relations and also friendly with the Shield family exciting stuff or what?

I doubt they were married- that's why there appears to be two registrations. When parents aren't married the birth of their child appears twice in the indexes- once under mother's name and once under fathers.

I have resolved the children all I want now folks is when Joseph Swinbank born Jan 7th1904 Auckland County Durham died date of death would be after 1933!!
