I am looking for my nephew Stephen Knight son of my sister Doris Irene nee Chambers (1922-1996). I don't know where or when he was born, (judging from a photograph I have probably mid 1950s) I don't know whether his father was Doris's first husband, (name unknown) or second husband Jack Knight. When his mother died in 1996 in Nottingham he registered her death and gave his name as Stephen Knight and an address in Birmingham. Stephen has a younger brother John Nigel Knight born in May 1958 who I would also like to trace.
I have found, with help, that Doris married Sidney Jack Ashdown in India in 1945 and returned to England in 1946 with an address in Greenwich to go to. Stephen was born in January 1953 in the Harrow area.

Yes, you've got them. I was hoping Doris and Jack had left wills. Might have picked up something there, but no wills were found. The address you found was our father's. He was a witness at the marriage.
They kept a public house in Nottingham according to my recently met nephew. He said it was near the cricket ground.

Wonder if its worth checking the electoral rolls for the address in Birmingham to see who else lived there at the time .

My other nephew' who I met recently, has sent me snapshots of the family, not very clear, one is of himself and his mother, Stephen and John, Jack and Doris and grandmother May Chambers. Would, I think, have been taken in the early 1960s.

I did know of the existence before I sent for the death certificates.

As that was the family coming back from Lagos....why is there no Stephen? are you sure he was older than John?

If they went back after a few months. maybe he was born early 60s abroad
