To prove (or disprove) the 2 marriages, you need to purchase the certificates. The Ivy Bowes one that Reggie found is probably the better first option as you presumably already knew the name of your grandmother. |

Sorry, I meant Grandpa was 20 years older. He was born on 27th June 1878, 60 Nickleby Street, Toxteth and Grandma was born on 26th January 1898. I have both their birth certificates. |

I can't thank you all enough for the above. How on earth do you all manage to unearth so much?! I feel extremely inadequate. So, do you think Reggie that my Grandfather was married twice?? First time to Ivy Bowes? Wow, I so didn't know that. I've always wanted to find more out about my Reid family history and some names I already have on my family tree but would love to find living relatives as apparently Grandpa never talked about his family and it was only Uncle Jack's family that I know anything about. Yes, John was known as Jack. And thank you Tenerife sun for joining Annie Frances to Poppy. I hadn't made that connection! Yes, her nickname was Poppy and she married Kimberley White. I didn't know his full, real name. I was hoping to find Barrie. Dad remembers going to his wedding in early 1950's but nothing else! |

This I am sure is John Reid (Jack) although it does say born in Scotland. Brother James W is living with them and the wife Marion should read Miriam the marriage was in Birkenhead in 1897 and she was Miriam Jones. |

I'm not convinced about the Bell marriage............why would Margaret marry without using her second forename? |

Could well be....................unless James was very late in marrying for the first time |

There is this baptism for a John Reid with the same names as parents on the 1881 but the birth is out by several years! Also the birth that goes with the baptism. |
