Find Living Relatives

Hi, I am trying to trace my mother, maiden name SUZANNE PEACOCK.(dob: c1940?) I have a feeling my mother's parents lived in Skipton, North Yorkshire, but not 100% sure. (i don't know their names. I don't even know if my mother had any siblings.)
She married my father ROBERT GUY FAIRHURST on 3/10/1964 (in the district of Staincliffe), and was known to have been living in Colne, Lancashire at that time. (I was born in 1966)
After they divorced, I was brought up by my Grandmother Sarah Eleanor Fairhurst (Nellie) and my father in Kelbrook. (my mother was never discussed)
I heard from someone that my mother had remarried, possibly had more children and was living in Skipton, also heard that her new husband had sadly died around Christmas one year. I don't know if she remarried after that.
Rumour has it that she moved from Skipton in the early 1990's but I don't know where to.
I've not had any contact with my mother in over 40 years, so if anyone knows anything about her, or any of my half siblings, please get in touch.

Have you got the marriage cert to your dad that should give her fathers name and her age at marriage

Well your first port of call is to get their marriage cert

buy it from www.gro.gov.uk use the refs I posted for the marriage

You have to register on the site, free then follow the order form you only need to put one of the parties names but do use it as its listed .

Tick the box where asked that you have the GRO ref and then use the detail from the ref I have given for their marriage

Certs cost £9.25 with the GRO ref .

When you have the cert then come back to THIS thread so we can follow it on with the details you will then have

If the birth found by Shirley is correct, there is one possible sibling as far as I can see. With this name you have a very good chance of tracking one of them down.

Once you have the cert you can proceed with more confidence.

I have looked for a marriage for your mother under the name of Suzanne Fairhurst (no middle initial) but there is nothing likely as far as I can see.

Hi Reggie. Thank you very much for that. Just read the PM. It's looking like you are most certainly right with those names and dates. You are the second person to mention them.
I have ordered the original marriage licence for my father & mother (fingers crossed that it arrives in the post this weekend) so hopefully that should give me her fathers name, I can then be 100% sure :-)

My father & mother's marriage certificate arrived in the post today. :-)
The details are: Date of marriage. 03/10/1964 . My mother was 20yrs of age, Spinster, residence in Skipton, her Father's name NORMAN PEACOCK.
(I am hoping that his name ties in with all the info you kind people have provided so far).

Well that ties with the marriage of Norman Peacock to Muriel Thornton in 1943

And her age of 20. In 1964 ties with that 1944 birth .

The only way to know if the 1984 marriage is her is to buy the cert again sorry :-(
